A few days back, we passed along the information that linebacker Brian Banks is somebody of interest to the Vikings (and everybody else that follows football) this offseason.
After being exonerated of rape charges that took a decade of his young life, Banks has become quite the celebrity and many are hopeful he will become the feel-good storyline of this season, regardless of where he lands.
According to Sam Farmer of the L.A. Times, Banks will attend a minicamp with the Seattle Seahawks this week. If he leaves Seattle without a contract, then he is scheduled to visit the Vikings at the end of this week.
The Vikings could be the perfect match for Banks should they choose to offer him a contract. They are a young team looking to improve but, at the same time, expecting some growing pains. Plus, they could use some depth at linebacker.
Banks could have the inspired type of play, the will to succeed, that coaches will love in training camp despite the certain obstacles he will have to hurdle in order to succeed in the NFL after such a long time away from the game.
We’ll be sure to keep an eye on this storyline and let you know of any progress as far as the Vikings are concerned.

The Vikes better not let Jerome Felton pick him up at the airport
This dude has been through enough
Hope Banks is good enough to make the team. Maybe having a former prison Stoolie on the roster will keep guys like Simpson and Cook on the straight and narrow path
That's a good point, Ole. If he can't make it as the teams third string LB, maybe there is a spot for him as the first string motivational speaker.
either that, or he can teach all the younger players where to hide a shiv when they play at Detroit
I'm not sure I like the idea of signing him. He hasn't played football in years, nobody knows hes a good guy, just because he got exonerated doesn't mean hes good or nice or even fully innocent. I just believe usually where theres smoke theres fire. I could be wrong and he could be a great guy and football player but I have my doubts.
I concur with Skol. I know he just got out after taking a bad wrap. However, if he doesn't bring anything to the table, then it is not worth signing him. I do wish him the very best of luck though, he really deserves it.
Wanetta Gibson and her mother are the criminals here, guys, he did nothing wrong.
this just in "Wanetta Gibson and her mother were signed by the green bay packers today"
another reason to pile on the hatin'
Are any charges gonna be brought against the mother and daughter? I havent read a thing about that.
I haven't heard anything, but if I were him, I'd by lining up a law suit for false accusation and defamation of character. I think that would be an easy win for him.
LA prosecutors have no plans to charge her. This story will make you hate her even more.

Here is Banks side of the story that you might find interesting.

Thanks for the links Carl and you're right I hate her even more now. Well Norse after reading these links it looks like Banks is screwded on getting any justice with this poor excuse of women. Maybe he can still get some financial justice with California but I kind of doubt it, not much accountability in that state. No offense Cal.
johnny, there's not much they could do with these women lying and defrauding them. i've worked in south LA down through long beach, and it's a gang-infested area. even the cops have to be real careful going there during daylight hours. california has probably the toughest three strikes law in the country, and performs executions, too
Cal, in the first link it said Banks was sueing the state of California for false imprisonment. I would think he has a pretty good case on that one. I also read that his lawyers have this lying bitch on tape admitting to her lies, idk but that should be pretty good proof. Some judge would probably not let them admit it as evidance tho.
she's broke, so the well has run dry there, but she should be prosecuted for sure, and if he can get some money from the city, county, state, or whomever, then good for him, he deserves much more than a recantation
What a low life she is, I Hope he has enough Raw talent and speed to make the practice team Just to get his foot in the door.
If any of you are wondering how I put a picture by my name, here is a link to do it:

I did it for another blog website, and it showed up over here too.
I hope someone gives him a little more leeway with his performance and he's given an extended run with a team, even if he isn't quite up to the expected standard expected at the moment. Obviously, he's not going to be at his best right now, but by all accounts he has been training hard since last year. He was clearly a very talented football player before this whole terrible ordeal, I would love to see him get SOMETHING back. I certainly wish him all the best.
