This year’s NFL offseason is shaping up to be one of the most memorable in recent history. Not only have CBA talks advanced, the Combine shed light on an incredibly deep wide receiver class and an unprecedented group of quarterbacks including Dak Prescott, Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Philip Rivers and Teddy Bridgewater is set to hit free agency. It’s an offseason that has the potential to change the landscape of the NFL.

While the Vikings are in the midst of closing out the regular season, the salary cap specialists over at Spotrac are peeking ahead to the offseason. They recently published an article naming a contract extension candidate and roster bubble candidate for each NFL team.

With the bye week in the rearview mirror, preparations for the Vikings’ Monday Night matchup against the Seahawks began on Tuesday morning. Multiple transactions were announced by the team and with players getting back to practice, things on the injury front appeared to take shape.

In a bit of a stunner, Mike “Wobby” Wobschall of the Vikings Entertainment Network is no longer working for the organization. Wobschall, also a regular guest of Paul Allen’s “9 to Noon” program on KFAN-FM 100.3, had not been seen working his regularly scheduled programming.

In only four days the Vikings roster will be cut down from 88 players to 53. By 3pm (CST) on Saturday the regular season squad, along with a 10-man practice squad, will be assembled. The team began trimming the fat on Tuesday, releasing cornerback Bene Benwikere and wide receiver Jordan Taylor. With roster cuts soon approaching, let’s take a final look at how the final 53 could unfold.

From the outside looking in, it may have seemed like a quiet offseason for the Vikings. Beyond re-signing Anthony Barr there were no major signings in free agency, the team didn’t lose any superstars and the core personnel remained quite similar to last year.
