Bleacher Report Reveals Kyler Murray’s Trade Price

Kyler Murray will remain the Minnesota Vikings’ top trade option this offseason if the purple team wants an established QB1 with extreme upside. Why? Well, the Arizona Cardinals’ ability to trade him is financially navigable, unlike teams with players like Joe Burrow, Lamar Jackson, and Justin Herbert. And thanks to Bleacher Report, the world now has a glance at Murray’s approximate trade value: a 2nd-Round pick.
A second-round number changes the conversation, even if Minnesota’s QB plan still points elsewhere for 2026.
Yes, according to Alex Kay, Murray can allegedly be obtained for a pick between 33 and 64 on draft night.
Bleacher Report Pins a Price Tag on Murray
Murray’s trade value comes into focus.

BR on Murray’s Trade Value
A 2nd-Rounder might do the trick via trade. Kay wrote this week, “Projected Trade Value: 2026 2nd-Round Pick. A few quarterbacks may find themselves on the trade market, including Arizona Cardinals signal-caller Kyler Murray. The 28-year-old has never delivered any postseason success, and Arizona’s offense actually operated more efficiently with him out of the lineup this past season.”
“The Cardinals will be rebuilding with a new head coach in 2026, so it may be the right time to move in a new direction at quarterback. Of course, his 2026 cap hit of $53.3 million could make it difficult for Arizona to maximize Murray’s trade value. However, the Cardinals may catch a break by having Moore return to college in 2026.”
Murray has flirted with the Vikings’ trade rumor mill from the moment he appeared to be “softly benched” this season by the Cardinals.
Kay continued, “Another source believes that the starting price point for Murray will be a second-round pick, per Weinfuss, and that if the Cardinals can move the two-time Pro Bowler, they will. The Jets might be the one team desperate enough to expend draft and cap capital to take a flier on Murray.”
“They were widely expected to take Moore at No. 2 overall — the Las Vegas Raiders will presumably snap up Indiana’s Fernando Mendoza at No. 1—before he announced he wouldn’t enter the draft. With no other QB prospect worthy of the second pick, New York may look to resurrect Murray’s career instead.”
The Vikings Actually Have a 2nd-Rounder for the First Time Since 2022
It’s a bit ironic that Murray can reportedly be acquired for a 2nd-Rounder. Why? Well, the Vikings finally have one.
The last time general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah drafted a player in the 2nd round was in 2022, when he doubled up on cornerback Andrew Booth and guard Ed Ingram. Neither man stayed in Minnesota longer than three seasons.
Since 2022, Adofo-Mensah has traded his 2023 2nd-Rounder to the Detroit Lions in a deal for tight end T.J. Hockenson. In 2024, he packaged his 2nd-Round pick to Houston for an extra 1st-Rounder that led to the selection of outside linebacker Dallas Turner. Adofo-Mensah also donated a 2025 2nd-Rounder to get Turner in the same trade with Houston.
Now, though, Minnesota has that pick untouched, and in theory, Adofo-Mensah could spend it on Murray.
Is It Worth It?
Murray is the fifth-most accurate quarterback in NFL history, at least per completion percentage. There are only two knocks on him — that go hand in hand. He’s 5’10 or 5’11, depending on the measurer. Murray does not have ideal quarterback size. And he’s also not the most durable quarterback imaginable.

Aside from those drawbacks, the 28-year-old can do everything else: arm strength, accuracy, speed, pocket presence, and mobility.
Some team will take a chance on a would-be Murray trade — or sign him if the Cardinals release him — and be quite happy, so long as the playcaller understands how to use him.
Yes, even the Vikings could cook with Murray. They went 9-8 in 2025, with the fifth-worst quarterback performance in all of football. Murray could nudge them back to 13- or 14-win seasons.
Non-Murray QB Alternatives
Let’s pretend Murray doesn’t interest the Vikings, and Adofo-Mensah prefers free agency for a QB2 to support J.J. McCarthy. These are the options:
- Aaron Rodgers
- Carson Wentz
- Case Keenum
- Gardner Minshew
- Jake Browning
- Jimmy Garoppolo
- Joe Flacco
- Kenny Pickett
- Malik Willis
- Marcus Mariota
- Mitchell Trubisky
- Russell Wilson
- Teddy Bridgewater
- Tyrod Taylor
- Zach Wilson

Or — if Adofo-Mensah wants to trade for a quarterback but not for Murray:
- Kirk Cousins
- Justin Fields
- Mac Jones
- Will Levis
- Drew Lock
- Jalen Milroe
- Davis Mills
- Spencer Rattler
- Anthony Richardson
- Tua Tagovailoa
- Jameis Winston
Adofo-Mensah and O’Connell made it clear at their year-end press conference earlier this month that formulating a “deep as possible” quarterback room is an offseason priority. Whether that’s Murray or not, another reputable passer will be on the way.
Murray will turn 29 in August. He can be traded at any time; teams don’t have to wait until March to discuss the deal.
