Equipped with just four picks, the Minnesota Vikings enter the 2025 NFL Draft as underdogs, tasked with nailing their four selections or trading back for more throws at the dartboard.

5 Bold Predictions for the Vikings Draft

The team’s depth chart is pretty well set after a fanciful free agency conducted by general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah. If they’re in the mood, the Vikings can truly draft the best player available.

But to get a little funky, these are five bold predictions for the Vikings draft. Bold predictions are designed to be outlandish or really, really specific. Keep that in mind.

The predictions are listed in no particular order.

1. Kwesi Adofo-Mensah Trades back Twice before Picking at All

Adofo-Mensah was a trader on Wall Street before he turned his career to the NFL, and unsurprisingly, those trading traits have carried over to sports.

Why would Adofo-Mensah stop trading in a draft that might be the most logical spot ever for him to wheel and deal? The young executive will perceive “only four draft picks” as a personal challenge, and prior to making his first selection, Adofo-Mensah will trade down the board twice, perhaps with the Baltimore Ravens and then with the Philadelphia Eagles.

2. No CBs Chosen in Early Rounds

Relying on the possibility or “insurance” of signing Asante Samuel Jr or Jaire Alexander after the draft, if needed, Minnesota will not select a cornerback in Rounds 1 or 2.

The club re-signed Byron Murphy Jr. last month and added Isaiah Rodgers, whom it perceives as more than just a mid-tier commodity. With Rodgers viewed a starting cornerback, Mekhi Blackmon on the way back, plus Jeff Okudah and Dwight McGlothern on the roster, the Vikings won’t prioritize cornerback as it might seem they should on paper.

Long story short, Minnesota likes its cornerback room more than you.

3. RB Brashard Smith Selected in Round 5 or 6

Adofo-Mensah traded for Jordan Mason with the San Francisco 49ers about a month ago, cancelling the realism of drafting a halfback like Omarion Hampton or TreVeyon Henderson somewhat early in the draft.

However, Minnesota has met with SMU’s Brashard Smith, and he’s a talent it can pluck from the draft in Round 5 or 6.

The 2025 running back trio will be Aaron Jones, Jordan Mason, and Brashard Smith. Not bad.

4. Defensive Tackle Is the First Pick

The Vikings don’t have urgent roster needs, meaning they can pretty much pick any player from any position. It’s one of those kinds of drafts for Minnesota.

Refer to the speech above about cornerbacks, recognize that the Vikings can draft an interior offensive lineman in Round 3, and you’ll arrive at the conclusion that defensive tackle makes the most sense for Adofo-Mensah’s first pick.

A DT, it is — perhaps Oregon’s Derrick Harmon.

5. Vikings End Up with 7 Picks

Adofo-Mensah trades fiendishly during drafts, and 2025 will be no different. In fact, he personally set this event up so that trades are virtually required.

By the time Saturday evening rolls around and Adofo-Mensah is sprinting to the undrafted free agent wire, the Vikings will have picked seven players from the 2025 NFL Draft. Adofo-Mensah even joked last week that he could turn four picks into 15 if he wanted.

He’ll get about halfway there.
