There’s Buzz for Cooper Kupp + Vikings

If you’re looking for the chef’s kiss to Minnesota Vikings free agency, wide receiver Copper Kupp could be it.
There’s Buzz for Cooper Kupp + Vikings
The Los Angeles Rams dropped the 2021 Super Bowl MVP this week, and he’s already commanding attention on the open market.

And it just so happens that the Vikings could be in the mix, according to The Athletic‘s Dianna Russini. She told The GoJo and Golic Show on Thursday, “There are a lot of teams interested in him. I think his price range — it’s a good number. He’s looking to get paid around $14 or $15 million.”
“I think Seattle has their eye on him. I think the Jags are watching this as well. I think the Minnesota Vikings. You also have teams that I thought were going to be interested that won’t be — the Tennessee Titans, the New England Patriots.”
The Vikings, meanwhile, have already signed Ryan Kelly (C), Will Fries (G), Jonathan Allen (DT), Javon Hargrave (DT), and Isaiah Rodgers (CB) in free agency. Kupp could be next.

Per Star Tribune, Kupp is gettable for Minnesota. “I think it’s very possible. There are big Cooper Kupp fans on that coaching staff,” Ben Goessling said Tuesday while talking to KFAN about Kupp to the Twin Cities.
“Wes Phillips is a big Cooper Kupp fan in terms of, you hear him talk all the time about Cooper Kupp as a run blocker, Cooper Kupp as a guy who would bring ideas to the offense.”
This is Minnesota’s wide receiver room under contract for 2025:
- Justin Jefferson
- Jordan Addison
- Jalen Nailor
- Jeshaun Jones
- Thayer Thomas
- Lucky Jackson
Kupp is in the purple team’s rumor mill because he and Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell won a Super Bowl together in 2021 with the Rams. The veteran wideout won the NFL’s Offensive Player of the Year award that season, with O’Connell front and center in the offense.

Minnesota may upgrade WR3 this offseason because of Kupp’s availability and the fact that Jordan Addison could be suspended to start the 2025 season due to a legal infraction. Otherwise, incumbent WR3 Jalen Nailor would get the nod if the Vikings signed no veteran or drafted no rookies.
If Kupp doesn’t land with the Vikings, other high-profile wideouts like Amari Cooper, Stefon Diggs, and Keenan Allen are available on the open market.

Kupp to the Vikings might suffer from only one disadvantage. If his market is as robust as some claim, Kupp can probably play WR2 somewhere, whereas Minnesota would clearly offer a WR3 gig.
A Kupp verdict should be reached within the next couple of days.
