Minnesota Vikings running back Aaron Jones may or may not return to the purple team in 2025.

The Top 5 Landing Spots for Aaron Jones

It feels slightly more likely that he’ll re-up with the Vikings for a sequel, but that could be optimistic thinking with free agency just two days away.

And if Jones departs to a new franchise via free agency, these are his five likeliest landing spots listed in ascending order (No. 1 = most likely destination), including in his current employer.

5. Pittsburgh Steelers

Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren are due to hit the open market on Monday, and Jones could slide into Pittsburgh as a dependable RB1 while the Steelers also selected a running back from this year’s loaded class.

Jones’ personality also fits the Steelers’ “type.”

4. Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys totally bungled the RB spot in free agency last year, opting not to explore Derrick Henry’s availability and instead signing Ezekiel Elliott and Dalvin Cook. Huge blunder.

They could cleanse their sins this offseason by signing Jones for a year or two. Otherwise, Rico Dowdle could return to Dallas.

3. Las Vegas Raiders

Sincere McCormick
Zamir White
Chris Collier
Dylan Laube

Those are a bunch of names … that don’t add up to much.

The Raiders need a QB1, RB1, and WR1 this offseason, and they won’t be able to find all needs in April’s draft. New general manager John Spytek must cross at least one need off the list from free agency, and that could be Jones at RB1.

2. Denver Broncos

Denver can put its foot down this offseason and sign a tried-and-true asset like Jones, rather than vacilating between five different mid-tier tailbacks per game.

Javonte Williams is scheduled to hit free agency, and if Minnesota doesn’t re-up with Jones, the teams, in theory, could swap running backs. Something to remember with free agency afoot.

In all likelihood, Jones will return to Minnesota on a price tag around $6 million or $7 million. He’s stated about four times that he loves the organization, and that’s a phenomenal starting place for negotiations.

No matter what, fans should expect Minnesota also to draft a tailback from April’s deep class.
