What Minnesota Vikings Fans Need to Know Ahead of Preseason Week 2 vs. New England Patriots

The Minnesota Vikings won their preseason opener against the Houston Texans by a score of 20-10 last Saturday.
Now, the Vikings are hosting the New England Patriots for joint practices this week before the two teams head to U.S. Bank Stadium for another preseason game this weekend. Here is a look at what Vikings fans need to know heading into the game.
How to Watch the Minnesota Vikings This Week

The Minnesota Vikings and New England Patriots will kick off their preseason action at 12 p.m. Central on Saturday, August 16. The game will be broadcast on FOX and can also be watched via NFL+ and NFL Sunday Ticket on YouTubeTV.
Patriots/Vikings History

The Patriots and Vikings have met 14 times during the regular season. The Patriots currently lead the all-time series with a 9-5 record against Minnesota, but the Vikings won the most recent matchup with a 33-26 victory back in 2022. Prior to that game, the Patriots had won five straight games in the series going back to 2002.
Of course, this being a preseason matchup, it will not have any impact on the all-time series record between the two teams nor have any impact on the standings.
Vikings Spotlight Player: WR Lucky Jackson

The Vikings just got some very bad news in their wide receiver room as Rondale Moore will miss the entirety of the 2025 season due to what Kevin O’Connell described as a “significant” knee injury. With Moore out and Jordan Addison facing a suspension for the first three games, Minnesota needs another player to step up.
Enter Lucky Jackson. The 28-year-old receiver has been in the Vikings’ organization for the past few years, spending the past two seasons on Minnesota’s practice squad. However, he is yet to catch a pass in a regular season NFL game.
Now, the receiver is in a position where he could be battling third-round rookie Tai Felton for the Vikings’ WR3 job over the next couple weeks. This weekend is a big opportunity to solidify that role.
Patriots Spotlight Player: RB TreVeyon Henderson

Heading into the 2025 NFL Draft, TreVeyon Henderson was viewed as one of the better running backs in the class coming out of Ohio State.
That has only been solidified throughout training camp in New England. Henderson can do a little bit of everything between being a runner, catching out of the backfield, and blocking. In the preseason opener, Henderson saw one carry for 18 yards and three receptions for 12 yards.
In a battle with Rhamondre Stevenson for the top spot on the depth chart, Henderson should see a decent number of snaps on Saturday.
