Week 4 NFL Standings

Three weeks into the NFL season, things have started to take shape in the NFL standings.
Multiple divisions have clear leaders at the front right now while others look like they could feature multiple playoff teams when January rolls around.
With Week 3 of the NFL season now in the books, here is a look at the NFL standings ahead of Week 4.
A Look at the NFL Standings as We Head into Week 4

AFC East
- Buffalo Bills (3-0)
- New England Patriots (1-2)
- New York Jets (0-3)
- Miami Dolphins (0-3)
It really looks like the Bills are going to run away with this division when it’s all said and done. Of course, it’s only Week 3 and a lot can change, but the Bills have a long rest after beating the New York Giants on Thursday Night Football, and now go up against the New Orleans Saints at home. Meanwhile, every other team in this division lost this week, and the Patriots take on the Carolina Panthers this weekend, who looked fantastic against the Atlanta Falcons while New York and Miami face off.
AFC North
- Cincinnati Bengals (2-1)
- Pittsburgh Steelers (2-1)
- Baltimore Ravens (1-2)
- Cleveland Browns (1-2)
Who would’ve guessed the Cleveland Browns would be tied with the Baltimore Ravens through three weeks? Cleveland shocked the world by upsetting the Green Bay Packers on Sunday while Baltimore fell to the Detroit Lions in a 38-30 shootout. Baltimore is probably still fine if we take into account that they’ve now played close losses against the Bills and Lions with a blowout win against the Browns mixed in. Especially with Joe Burrow out for the foreseeable future and how Jake Browning looked against the Vikings, the Ravens have plenty of time to get back into the playoff hunt.
AFC South
- Indianapolis Colts (3-0)
- Jacksonville Jaguars (2-1)
- Houston Texans (0-3)
- Tennessee Titans (0-3)
Other than the Titans being 0-3 to start the year, everything feels backwards in the AFC South this year. Daniel Jones is helping lead the Indianapolis Colts to one of the best offenses in the entire NFL, ranked second in both points and total yards, while the Houston Texans have looked completely out of sync over the first three weeks. Houston’s playoff hopes are not dead yet, but they are on the brink after their loss to the Jaguars this weekend. They will need a big bounce back against the Titans this weekend before they head into a brutal four-game stretch against the Ravens, Seahawks, 49ers, and Broncos.
AFC West
- Los Angeles Chargers (3-0)
- Las Vegas Raiders (1-2)
- Denver Broncos (1-2)
- Kansas City Chiefs (1-2)
The Chargers have dominated the AFC West early on in the season by jumping out to a 3-0 start with wins against each of their division rivals, which bodes well for any tiebreaker scenarios if this race were to become close down the stretch. Meanwhile, all three of the other teams have had their stumbles out of the gate. The Raiders defense has had some issues, Bo Nix has been inconsistent for the Broncos, and the Chiefs have looked completely out of sync on offense for most of their first three games.
NFC East
- Philadelphia Eagles (3-0)
- Washington Commanders (2-1)
- Dallas Cowboys (1-2)
- New York Giants (0-3)
Since their Week 5 bye in 2024, the Philadelphia Eagles have won 19 of their past 20 games (including their Super Bowl run) with their only loss being in Week 16 last year to the Washington Commanders. It seemed like that stretch was going to add another loss to its name until Jordan Davis blocked a potentially game-winning field goal by Rams kicker Joshua Karty and returned it for a touchdown. It proved to keep Philadelphia in sole possession of first place in the division as the Commanders blew out the Raiders even without Jayden Daniels.
NFC North
- Green Bay Packers (2-1)
- Minnesota Vikings (2-1)
- Detroit Lions (2-1)
- Chicago Bears (1-2)
As many expected, the NFC North is shaping up to be a dog fight. It was a chaotic weekend in this division as the Packers lost to the Browns, the Vikings absolutely dominated the Bengals with Carson Wentz, the Lions won a shootout against the Ravens on Monday night, and the Bears got their first win of the season to gain a game on the Packers. Especially if Caleb Williams can build off of his performance against the Cowboys, things might only get crazier in the North.
NFC South
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-0)
- Carolina Panthers (1-2)
- Atlanta Falcons (1-2)
- New Orleans Saints (0-3)
A big old wrench was thrown into the middle of the NFC South race when the Carolina Panthers not only beat the Atlanta Falcons but humiliated them to the tune of a 30-0 shutout. Carolina put together a strong showing on offense last weekend and built on that this week, so now, with matchups against the Patriots, Dolphins, Cowboys, and Jets coming up, perhaps they can work their way into the race against the Buccaneers if Tampa Bay slips up a couple times in their gauntlet against the Eagles, Seahawks, 49ers, and Lions.
NFC West
- San Francisco 49ers (3-0)
- Arizona Cardinals (2-1)
- Seattle Seahawks (2-1)
- Los Angeles Rams (2-1)
The waters are muddied out west through three weeks. The 49ers are 3-0 despite losing a number of players to injury, and the latest to join that list is Nick Bosa who will miss the rest of the season due to a torn ACL. They’ve won all three games by five points or fewer, so how much longer can they keep up this luck in close games? There really isn’t a weak spot in this division with Arizona looking very solid on both sides of the ball, Matthew Stafford continuing to play elite football for Los Angeles, and Sam Darnold continuing his career revival with explosive games for Seattle. It seems like there is no room for error in this division, and the first team to falter could fall far behind in a hurry.
