Week 4 NFL Picks: Vikings Head Across the Pond for Crucial Game Against the Steelers

What a mediocre start to the season.
After an 8-8 record in Week 2, it was followed up by a 7-9 record in Week 3. It’s time to get better, and the only way to do that is with a winning week. Before we get into the Week 4 NFL picks, here is a look back at how we fared in Week 3:
- Bills -11.5 (L)
- Packers -7.5 (L)
- Colts -3.5 (W)
- Bengals +3.5 (L)
- Patriots +1.5 (L)
- Eagles -3.5 (W)
- Buccaneers -6.5 (L)
- Raiders +3.5 (L)
- Panthers +5.5 (W)
- Texans +1.5 (L)
- Chargers -2.5 (W)
- Seahawks -7.5 (W)
- Cowboys +1.5 (L)
- Cardinals +1.5 (W)
- Chiefs -5.5 (W)
- Ravens -4.5 (L)
Season Record: 22-26
Week 4 NFL Picks

Seattle Seahawks at Arizona Cardinals
- Spread: Seahawks -1.5
- O/U: 43.5 points
Frey’s Pick: Seahawks -1.5
Both of the Cardinals and Seahawks have utilized defenses that quietly rank in the top 10 in terms of scoring to 2-1 starts this season. The Cardinals could be without Will Johnson in their secondary though, and that would open up opportunities for Seattle’s offense. Seahawks win a close battle.
Minnesota Vikings at Pittsburgh Steelers
- Spread: Vikings -2.5
- O/U: 40.5 points
Frey’s Pick: Vikings -2.5
The Vikings and Steelers are playing the first NFL game in Dublin this weekend, which means this is bound to be a weird game as are many that take place across the pond. Jordan Addison is back in the lineup, and the Vikings are starting to get healthy on defense. Keep in mind, the Steelers needed five turnovers just to score 21 points and beat the Patriots by a touchdown. Minnesota gets the win to improve to 3-1.
Washington Commanders at Atlanta Falcons
- Spread: Commanders -1.5
- O/U: 44.5 points
Frey’s Pick: Commanders -1.5
The Commanders put together an impressive win on Sunday despite being without Jayden Daniels in the lineup. Meanwhile, the Falcons took a significant step backward with a 30-0 loss to the Panthers. Daniels could return this weekend, and if he does, the Commanders might cruise to a win.
New Orleans Saints at Buffalo Bills
- Spread: Bills -15.5
- O/U: 47.5 points
Frey’s Pick: Bills -15.5
The Saints are just bad across the board. They can’t consistently keep drives rolling on offense despite the best efforts from Spencer Rattler. Their defense has progressively gotten worse every week. Their special teams aren’t even consistent with kicking and punting. Meanwhile, the Bills have ridden an overpowering offense and stout defense to a 3-0 start. Bills win big at home.
Cleveland Browns at Detroit Lions
- Spread: Lions -9.5
- O/U: 44.5 points
Frey’s Pick: Lions -9.5
The Browns stunned the NFL world with their win over the Green Bay Packers, but can they pull it off again on the road against a very good Lions team? I have my doubts. Detroit’s running back duo has come to life, and as long as that continues, the Lions should be able to cruise to a win.
Carolina Panthers at New England Patriots
- Spread: Patriots -5.5
- O/U: 42.5 points
Frey’s Pick: Panthers +5.5
Despite a 1-2 record, things are starting to look up in Carolina. The defense is forcing turnovers, and Bryce Young is starting to turn things around after a disastrous Week 1 performance. The Patriots’ only win this season has come against a floundering Dolphins team, and the offense just hasn’t looked all that great. The Panthers can keep this close at the very least.
Los Angeles Chargers at New York Giants
- Spread: Chargers -6.5
- O/U: 44.5 points
Frey’s Pick: Chargers -6.5
Jaxson Dart is making his first career start, but it couldn’t be coming at a more unfortunate time with the Chargers coming to town. Los Angeles has one of the best pass defenses in the NFL, and it will be a tough day for Dart.
Philadelphia Eagles at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
- Spread: Eagles -3.5
- O/U: 43.5 points
Frey’s Pick: Eagles -3.5
It’s a battle of unbeaten teams as the Eagles head to Tampa Bay. Unfortunately for the Buccaneers, their offense will be without Mike Evans. Both teams have found ways to win early in the season, but the defending champs come out on top here.
Tennessee Titans at Houston Texans
- Spread: Texans -7.5
- O/U: 38.5 points
Frey’s Pick: Titans +7.5
Something just seems off with the Texans right now, and it may be as simple as they have been hit with the injury bug early in the year. Tennessee has not looked good by any means, but as long as Houston remains shorthanded, they can find a way to keep this within a touchdown.
Indianapolis Colts at Los Angeles Rams
- Spread: Rams -3.5
- O/U: 50.5 points
Frey’s Pick: Colts +3.5
I’m riding the Colts bandwagon until the wheels fall off. This team simply has been dominant over the first three weeks with the second-highest points scored and ninth-fewest points allowed this year. They have the highest point differential in the entire league, and even in hostile territory, they get the win here to prove that they belong in the group of playoff contenders.
Jacksonville Jaguars at San Francisco 49ers
- Spread: 49ers -3.5
- O/U: 47.5 points
Frey’s Pick: Jaguars +3.5
The 49ers have gotten out to a 3-0 start, but wow, have they been hit by the injury bug in a big way. The latest addition to that laundry list is Nick Bosa will miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL. That’s a huge blow to San Francisco’s defensive front, and Trevor Lawrence will have plenty of time to process in the pocket. Jacksonville pulls off the upset.
Baltimore Ravens at Kansas City Chiefs
- Spread: Ravens -2.5
- O/U: 48.5 points
Frey’s Pick: Ravens -2.5
It’s very weird seeing this game as a matchup between 1-2 teams. Long story short, they both desperately need a win in order to not lose any more ground in their divisional races. Kansas City started to put some things together on Sunday night against the Giants, but that was also them playing the Giants. As long as Derrick Henry doesn’t fumble the football, the Ravens can pull this game out in Arrowhead.
Chicago Bears at Las Vegas Raiders
- Spread: Bears -1.5
- O/U: 47.5 points
Frey’s Pick: Raiders +1.5
Caleb Williams put together a really strong game against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 3, but can he replicate that performance on the road? Based on what we’ve seen from Chicago’s offense, I have my doubts. Raiders get back on track.
Green Bay Packers at Dallas Cowboys
- Spread: Packers -6.5
- O/U: 47.5 points
Frey’s Pick: Packers -6.5
The Packers offense couldn’t have looked uglier against the Browns this past weekend, but that is a very strong unit. This Dallas Cowboys group is not that as showcased by the Bears moving the ball all over them. We can also book it that Micah Parsons will come up with a key play in this one. Packers win.
New York Jets at Miami Dolphins
- Spread: Dolphins -2.5
- O/U: 45.5 points
Frey’s Pick: Jets +2.5
Can we just throw this game in the dumpster and call it a wash? Both the Jets and Dolphins are 0-3, but at least the Jets have looked relatively competitive in two of their losses against competitive teams. New York pulls it off.
Cincinnati Bengals at Denver Broncos
- Spread: Broncos -7.5
- O/U: 44.5 points
Frey’s Pick: Bengals +7.5
I don’t quite know what to make of this matchup. The Broncos have been out of sorts on offense, but their defense is strong enough to keep them in games. On the other hand, the Bengals just put together a disastrous loss to the Vikings last weekend. I don’t believe they are that bad, and while Cincinnati probably won’t win this game, they can find a way to keep it close on Monday night.
