Vikings from 2024 Roster Who Still Need Jobs

The Minnesota Vikings’ roster is pretty well set after the 2025 NFL Draft and oodles of newcomers from undrafted free agency.

Vikings from 2024 Roster Who Still Need Jobs

The next big stop of the offseason is organized team activities (OTAs), which kick off on May 27th.

Several players, though, from the 2024 roster need new jobs, unsigned through eight weeks of free agency. These are those players listed alphabetically.

1. Cam Akers (RB)

Of all men on this list, Cam Akers might be the most likely to return with the Vikings, an RB3 stalwart in Minnesota from 2023 and 2024. Minnesota has used early autumn trades in back-to-back seasons to secure Akers’ services, but this time, perhaps general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah can just sign him outright as a free agent. A novel concept.

Otherwise, the Vikings will trust Ty Chandler with the RB3 job.

2. Jonathan Bullard (DT)

Bullard has quietly worked for the Vikings during the last three seasons, and of all players from Vikings history who have been attached to the active roster in back-to-back-to-back seasons, Bullard might be the most underappreciated.

He’s an adept run stuffer. However, with the Vikings adding Jonathan Allen and Javon Hargrave via free agency, along with re-signing Jalen Redmond, Bullard may be gone-gone for good.

3. Dan Feeney (OL)

Most fans only know Feeney because of his unorthodox mullet, but he played for the team in 2024 as a backup center and guard. He’s a bit of a journeyman with this NFL resume:

  • Los Angeles Chargers (2017–2020)
  • New York Jets (2021–2022)
  • Miami Dolphins (2023)
  • Chicago Bears (2023)
  • Minnesota Vikings (2024)

He should latch on somewhere as a depth lineman before too long.

4. Stephon Gilmore (CB)

Some media members spotted Gilmore at the Dallas Cowboys’ facilities right before the draft, and because Gilmore spent the 2023 campaign there, Cowboys fans wondered if he’d sign as a free agent.

Then, Dallas drafted East Carolina’s Shavon Revel Jr., which might’ve daggered the Gilmore theory.

If Gilmore doesn’t retire, some team will sign him for Year No. 14. He’s from the same draft class as Harrison Smith.

5. Shaquill Griffin (CB)

Griffin met with the Seahawks a few weeks ago, but no contract materialized. He could be an option for Minnesota if an injury arises.

The veteran corner is the perfect spot starter to employ if injuries rattle a roster.

6. Kamu Grugier-Hill (LB)

The Vikings signed Eric Wilson from free agency and drafted Kobe King. That ensured Grugier-Hill probably wouldn’t return, so he’ll still be available on the open market to 31 teams.

7. Fabian Moreau (CB)

Moreau didn’t play much for the Vikings in 2024, and Minnesota has a full cornerback depth chart. He’s not really a target for the purple team this spring or summer.

8. Brandon Powell (WR)

Minnesota signed about four new speedsters to replace Powell: Rondale Moore, Tai Felton, Silas Bolden, and Isaiah Rodgers.

Powell performed well for a couple of seasons in Minnesota, but the club now has multiple returner options.

9. David Quessenberry (OT)

Justin Skule signed in free agency, and the Vikings signed Kansas’ Logan Brown from undrafted free agency. Quessenberry could still return, but Skule and Brown are in the driver’s seat.

10. Dalton Risner (OG)

Once again, Risner has signed nowhere there through two months of tradition, the annual Risnerian rigmarole.

He hinted that Minnesota might want him back, but the price points have not aligned. Some team will hire Risner, employing a pretty impressive pass-blocking guard.

11. Jihad Ward (OLB)

Ward experienced ample playing time in Brian Flores’ defense last season, but now the Vikings will hand the baton to players like Dallas Turner, Jonathan Allen, and Javon Hargrave. Ward is 30 and shouldn’t have a hard time finding a job this summer.
