Vikings Chase a Long-Awaited Milestone in Week 15

Kevin O’Connell’s team heads to Texas this week for Vikings vs Cowboys in Week 15 and will hope to do something for the first time this season: win back-to-back games.
VikingsTerritory looks ahead to the Week 15 game of Vikings vs Cowboys to see if Minnesota can secure consecutive dubs.
A meeting with the Dallas Cowboys is on the slate this week as the Vikings go to Arlington to face off with Jerry Jones’ team in front of the primetime cameras on Sunday night. After a much-improved Week 14 shutout win over the Washington Commanders last week, Kevin O’Connell will hope to guide his team to back-to-back wins for the first time this season.
Vikings vs Cowboys: Can Minnesota Win Consecutive Games
That stat alone tells the story of the Vikings’ 2025 season. One in which the team has failed to build momentum. Any season with three different starting quarterbacks is going to be difficult, especially when your QB1 is essentially a rookie trying to find his feet.

This season hasn’t gone to plan for Minnesota, but a win here and another against the struggling New York Giants will add a touch of respectability.
What to Expect from the Cowboys
It has been an inconsistent year for the Cowboys, who sit at 6-6-1 in second place, 1.5 games behind the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC East. The Eagles’ struggles more than expected have left the door still ajar for Dallas, which will see this week’s game as a must-win. The Cowboys have only the tie against Green Bay to show from their games against the NFC North, losing on the road at both Chicago and Detroit.
Brian Flores’ defense will need to be at its best to combat the Dallas offense, which is where this team’s strength lies. Javonte Williams provides a solid running game while Ceedee Lamb and George Pickens provide a stellar pair of wide receivers. The threat doesn’t end there with Ryan Flournoy having his second 100-yard game of the season last week and Jake Ferguson at tight end.

Dallas has struggled defensively, with only the Cincinnati Bengals allowing more points than the 386 the Cowboys have allowed so far this season. If the Vikings can run the efficient offense they ran last week, they will give themselves a chance to win.
Vikings vs Cowboys History
The Vikings and the Cowboys have met 34 times and have a storied history together, with seven postseason games, including a couple of NFC Championship games. Dallas leads the series 19-15, largely thanks to a dominant run that has seen them win 5 of the last six meetings dating back to 2013. The Vikings’ last win came back in the 2019 season, which was also the last time Minnesota played in Arlington.
The Vikings actually have a much better record as the visiting team in this series. Holding the edge in road games with an 8-6 record when playing in Texas, compared to 13-7 as the hosts.

The last meeting between the two teams came in 2022 when the Cowboys thrashed the Vikings 40-3 at US Bank Stadium. Minnesota went into that game with an 8-1 record and on the back of a huge win in Buffalo, only to be brought back down to earth during Coach O’Connell’s debut season.
The Vikings aren’t riding so high this time, but a win and another performance where J.J. McCarthy looks like a serviceable QB will increase the feel-good factor among Viking fans.
