Each weekend, we publish outrageously bad or wrong Minnesota Vikings-themed takes and theories.

Vikings Nopedy Nopes: Horrible Tyreek Hill Trade Idea, Kwesi Adofo-Mensah, End of “The Big Rumor”

The tidbits come from everywhere: quotes from players, analysts, websites, and writers, to name a few. We track them and present them to the public every Sunday.

Here’s this week’s edition. The previous Nopey Nope editions can be here.

The Nopedy Nope: Minnesota should trade Jordan Addison and a 2nd-Rounder to Miami for Tyreek Hill and a 3rd-Rounder.

TVA’s Adam Patrick explained the speculative trade: “The proposed deal has the Vikings sending wide receiver Jordan Addison and a 2026 second-round draft pick to Miami in exchange for Hill and a 2026 third-round selection.”

“Minnesota’s receiving duo of Addison and Justin Jefferson is already one of the best in the NFL, but just imagine how much more explosive the team’s passing attack could be next season if they had Hill and Jefferson lining up on the field at the same time.”

It’s worth noting for full disclosure that Hill grew up as a Vikings fan.

“It would be a literal pick-your-poison scenario for opposing defenses every time the Vikings offense stepped on the field. Having a wide receiver duo of Hill and Jefferson to throw to would certainly make life a whole lot easier for J.J. McCarthy in his first season as Minnesota’s starting quarterback,” Patrick added.

“Hill helped the Kansas City Chiefs have a magical season during Patrick Mahomes’s first year as the team’s starting quarterback in 2018. Would he do the same for McCarthy in 2025?”

Minnesota would inherit Hill’s ginormous contract, lose Addison’s affordable deal, get older at wide receiver, and receive a lesser draft pick.

There is absolutely no way this trade would happen.

Verdict: Nopedy nope.

The Nopedy Nope: Kwesi Adofo-Mensah’s job is being overtaken by Ryan Grigson.

The Athletic’s Mike Sando wrote about Minnesota’s recent free agent class: “The top three free agents Minnesota signed — guard Will Fries ($17.5 million APY, turns 27 on Friday), defensive tackle Jonathan Allen ($17 million APY, age 30) and defensive tackle Javon Hargrave ($15 million APY, age 32) — combined to miss 35 of 51 games last season.”

“That caught execs’ attention at a time when general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah has an unresolved contract. Some are questioning who is making the decisions for Minnesota.”

Most onlookers enjoyed Adofo-Mensah’s free-agent class.

Sando then quoted an anonymous NFL executive: “It’s like the 2015 Colts all over again, signing older guys who have been hurt, who are on third or fourth contracts,” and added context about the “Indianapolis team that added 30-something former stars Trent Cole, Frank Gore, Kendall Langford and Andre Johnson in free agency.”

The article then mentioned Vikings Senior vice president of player personnel Ryan Grigson as someone who could be calling the shots.

Sando noted, “Indy’s then-general manager, Ryan Grigson, is now the Vikings’ senior vice president of player personnel. Although Minnesota has struggled in the draft recently, the team has fared well at finding veteran pieces for defensive coordinator Brian Flores. Will Allen and Hargrave be next?”

The same anonymous exec added: “There is no more fascinating team than Minnesota because they have 13- and 14-win seasons over the past three years but no playoff win to show for it and only one division title. The head coach seems like a difference maker, a multiplier. If Kwesi does not get a new deal, would they just promote Grigson? It’s fascinating.”

Adofo-Mensah is about to receive a contract extension. Suggesting Grigson is some secret puppetmaster is bizarre.

Verdict: Nopedy nope.

The Nopedy Nope: Aaron Rodgers is still in play for the Vikings.

NFL Network‘s Ian Rapoport said Monday, “The Vikings were very clear that Aaron Rodgers, as of right now, is not an option for them. They’re moving full speed ahead with J.J. McCarthy. So, if Aaron Rodgers is gonna play football in 2025, it is going to be for the Steelers.”

The Rodgers rumors for Minnesota have mostly faded, but thanks to Rapoport, they are dead-dead

Rodgers as the Vikings’ 2025 QB1 was always a looney theory when the team drafted McCarthy from Round 1 a year ago.

Verdict: Nopedy nope.
