Vikings Avoid Injury Scare at Already-Thin Position

Seemingly at every turn this summer, the Minnesota Vikings have had to navigate some sort of problem with their wide receiver room.
It began with Justin Jefferson’s hamstring injury at the beginning of camp, then proceeded with the suspension of Jordan Addison, season-ending injury to Rondale Moore, and wrist injury to Jalen Nailor that has kept him sidelined for about a week.
On Wednesday, the Vikings looked like they very well could have had a disastrous injury situation on their hands, but the latest reports suggest that Minnesota avoided the scare.
Vikings Avoid Injury Scare

According to ESPN’s Kevin Seifert, during Minnesota’s final full-padded practice of camp, rookie receiver Tai Felton left early after appearing to have injured his right hand.
That by itself could have been bad enough, but then shortly afterwards, Jordan Addison also ran off the field holding his arm, Seifert reported.
Luckily, neither one are expected to miss time due to the injury.
“Rookie Tai Felton appeared to injure his left hand during the full-pads practice, the Vikings’ final work of training camp. Then, veteran Jordan Addison ran off the field holding his arm and was attended to by athletic trainers. Felton and Addison remained on the sideline but did not return to practice. Neither player, however, will miss any significant time,” Seifert wrote.

It’s a very fortunate outcome for a Vikings squad that has seen nothing but bad news at the wide receiver position lately.
As of now, assuming Jefferson and Nailor are ready to play Week 1 at Soldier Field against the Chicago Bears, Minnesota will be relying on some combination of Felton, Lucky Jackson, and Tim Jones to take on meaningful offensive snaps.
It comes as QB J.J. McCarthy prepares to make the first starts of his NFL career, so it’s no wonder why the Vikings have been reported to be interested in trading for a veteran wide receiver.

As of now, no deal has been made, but this latest injury scare should be just another reason for the Vikings to put the pedal to the metal and get a proven contributor as soon as possible.
