Final Vikings Injury Report Brings a Bit of Bad News for the Defense

On Friday, the Minnesota Vikings finally gave fans some clearer answers as to where things stand with their injured players heading into Week 7.

As the Vikings prepare to host the Philadelphia Eagles in less than 48 hours, the team released its final injury report with injury designations for a number of players who have been working to get back on the field over the course of Minnesota’s bye.

That final Vikings injury report brought a little bit of bad news for the Vikings defense.

The Vikings listed six players as questionable for Sunday’s matchup against the defending champs, but the most notable decision came with the player who officially not suit up on Sunday.

Andrew Van Ginkel is going to miss his fourth game of the year as he continues to battle a neck injury, meaning another start is on the way for Dallas Turner.

Van Ginkel made his only start of 2025 in the season opener against the Chicago Bears. He made his presence felt all over the field in that game, totaling five tackles, including a tackle for loss, and a pair of passes defended.

Then, he came back in Week 3 against the Cincinnati Bengals to play eight snaps and made the absolute most of that appearance, recording a pair of sacks. The Vikings managed to win both of those games.

In Van Ginkel’s stead, Turner has struggled a bit to get his feet underneath him as an impact player. The second-year linebacker has totaled 20 tackles, a pair of tackles for loss, and a sack. This weekend brings another test for Turner as the Eagles still boast one of the better offensive lines in football.

However, it’s not all bad news for Minnesota. A number of familiar names still have a chance to suit up on Sunday after being out for awhile. Here are the six players who were listed as questionable:

  • OLB Tyler Batty
  • LB Blake Cashman
  • DT Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins
  • IOL Michael Jurgens
  • QB J.J. McCarthy
  • RT Brian O’Neill

We already know McCarthy’s fate as he will serve as the emergency QB3 for the Vikings this weekend behind starter Carson Wentz and backup Max Brosmer.

However, the Vikings could get some reinforcements on the offensive line in Jurgens and O’Neill while the defense could get a cornerstone back in the lineup with Blake Cashman.

Cashman has missed each of the past four games, but when he has been in the lineup, Minnesota has looked entirely better as a whole on the defensive side of the football.

The Vikings and Eagles will kick off at 12 p.m. Central inside U.S. Bank Stadium.
