You know training camp is popping off for the Minnesota Vikings when roster bubble articles are on the menu.

These nine Vikings players are on the roster bubble at 2025 training camp. Here’s who’s fighting for a job, and what it will take to make the active roster.

Like every July and August, the Vikings have several players on the roster bubble, men straddling the edge of making the team or hitting the practice squad โ€” and avoiding outright release.

This go-round, these are the nine players fighting to make the 53-man roster whose situations could genuinely go either way. They’re listed in alphabetical order.

You can read about last year’s bubble players here.

Here’s who’s on the bubble at training camp and in the preseason

1. Brian Asamoah (LB)

Asmoah has never taken off with the Vikings, despite 3rd-Round draft stock three years ago. He’s a special teams asset.

He’s on the bubble because Minnesota doesn’t need him to play linebacker this year. Ivan Pace Jr., Blake Cashman, Eric Wilson, and rookie Kobe King had all but gobbled up those four spots.

2. Tyler Batty (OLB)

Minnesota must nominate an OLB4 after Jonathan Greenard, Andrew Van Ginkel, and Dallas Turner. The choices? Batty (an undrafted rookie), Gabriel Murphy, and Bo Richter.

Another team could steal Batty if Minnesota puts him on the practice squad, so he’s a roster bubble candidate accordingly.

SI.com‘s Will Ragatz noted on Batty this month, “Having played in 53 games at BYU, Batty has substantial experience and a path to contributing as a depth and special teams player during his rookie contract. After all, there’s a reason why he received more guaranteed money than any other undrafted free agent the Vikings signed this spring.”

“Batty, who grew up on a farm in Utah, stuck with football despite a scary head injury from an ATV accident just before high school. Over his five seasons at BYU, he recorded 16.5 sacks, 34 total tackles for loss, three forced fumbles, and a pair of interceptions. Not unlike 2024 UDFA Bo Richter, Batty is a big, strong defensive end who wins with physicality and a relentless motor. He isn’t dripping with burst or agility, but he’s a violent, powerful player who can rush the passer in a variety of ways.”

3. Silas Bolden (WR)

An electric-but-small playmaker from the University of Texas, the Vikings could use a speedy WR5 and special teams return option this season. Bolden is precisely that.

However, Bolden went undrafted in April. It’s unclear if his skill set will immediately translate to making a team’s 53-man roster.

4. Ty Chandler (RB)

The Vikings always go out of their way not to use Chandler, evidenced by trades for Cam Akers in back-to-back seasons. Chandler doesn’t do much pass-blocking, and Minnesota seems to make that a prerequisite for its running backs.

The upcoming season is also the final year of Chandler’s rookie contract, increasing the suspense about his roster security. Not a single person or fan anywhere has talked about a Chandler exetenson, which is pretty telling.

5. Joe Huber (G)

Like Bolden, Huber, too, is a promising UDFA. He’s from the University of Wisconsin and probably should’ve been drafted in later rounds three months ago.

No cigar, and now Huber is a roster bubble candidate for the 2025 Vikings. The team arguably needs some OG depth, which Huber can provide.

Bleacher Report‘s scouting department on Huber before the draft: “Huber has a thick build with some pop in his hands to uproot targets in the run game. However, his marginal body control/balance sap his sustain skills and ability to match up one-on-one in pass protection, which suggests he’ll be a potential backup from the undrafted pool.”

6. Dwight McGlothern (CB)

McGlothern, an undrafted rookie from 2024, played 19 defensive snaps last season, and now he must stave off Tavierre Thomas, a special teams savant, and Ambry Thomas for a roster spot.

The team seems high on him, so he should be in a good spot this summer.

7. Rondale Moore (WR)

Moore is recovering from an injury that cancelled his entire 2024 campaign in Atlanta. He’s fast as hell, but Moore has disappointed so far in his career, and the Vikings have Tim Jones, Silas Bolden, and Jeshaun Jones, among others, hungry for roster spots.

8. Brett Rypien (QB)

There’s a chance that undrafted free agent Max Brosmer from the University of Minnesota sneaks up and steals Rypien’s QB3 job. The coaching staff has spoken highly of both men this offseason.

Rypien could be iffy for seizing the QB3 job because putting Brosmer on the practice squad would risk another team easily stealing him. For free.

9. Taki Taimani (DT)

The Vikings suddenly have “too many” defensive tackles. Seven months ago, they didn’t have enough.

Taimani might have an advantage in making the active roster, as Minnesota lacks big-bodied, nose-tackle-type defensive tackles. However, with Jonathan Allen, Javon Hargrave, Harrison Phillips, Jalen Redmond, Tyron Ingram-Dawkins, and Levi Drake Rodriguez “in his way,” Taimani must have his game face on.
