Vikings Fans’ Training Camp Predictions | 2025

The people have weighed in.

Isaiah Rodgers speaks to the media after Vikings minicamp in 2025.
Minnesota cornerback Isaiah Rodgers addresses reporters following a 2025 minicamp practice. Rodgers joined the team after brief stops with the Indianapolis Colts and Philadelphia Eagles. His return to the field follows a season-long suspension, and MIN hopes his speed and ball skills bolster their defensive depth.

1. Isaiah Rodgers Breakout

From: Steve Berglund | @VikesIn18

Cornerback Isaiah Rodgers is going to become a very popular name in national media. There’s going to be so much talk about how good he looks, and it will change the narrative on the Vikes CB room.

The Viking Age‘s Anthony Miller recently wrote about Rodgers, “Flores has been high on Rodgers all offseason as he is seen as a starter on the Vikings’ defense. That is a role that Rodgers isn’t as familiar with in his career, but one that he has shown potential in being able to do.”

“He started three of his 15 games with the Philadelphia Eagles last year and played well. Rodgers put up 26 tackles and four pass deflections, but had a PFF overall grade of 76, which was ranked 21st out of 222 cornerbacks in the NFL. The Vikings need a big season out of him after the defense was ranked 28th against the pass, allowing 242 yards per game. Rodgers joins Byron Murphy Jr. and Mekhi Blackmon at cornerback.”

2. The Defense Will Be Utterly Formidable

From: Bruce Johnson | @sachikojohnson

The most important thing to me is that the players stay healthy and avoid injury. I will predict this: there will be a lot of grumbling about how difficult it is to go against the defense. They will clearly take it to a new level.

3. J.J. McCarthy Will Have a Slump

From: Jens from Norway | @rednpurple77

J.J. McCarthy celebrates Michigan’s title win over Washington on Jan. 8, 2024.
Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy (9) celebrates after defeating Washington to win the 2024 College Football Playoff National Championship on January 8, 2024, at NRG Stadium. The Wolverines secured their first national title since 1997, with McCarthy playing a central role in the dominant victory.

J.J. McCarthy will likely experience a slight slump in training camp, where he will struggle a bit before finding his footing. Vikings fans will be completely freaked out, and the panic will be palpable.

4. The Offensive Line Turns Heads — in a Good Way

From: Ivan, Czar of Bohunks | @up4discussion_7

Nothing fancy, but I think we will hear a lot of reports on how great our offensive line looks over camp. Skol!

Our own Janik Eckardt noted on the OL this week, “Potential competitors for him in the next weeks are the sophomore Walter Rouse or guard replacement Blake Brandel. The latter was moved to guard a couple of years ago, but was a backup tackle before and could easily be moved over.”

“Until that is the case, however, he will sub in for Fries at right guard. Brandel, a 2020 6th-rounder, has started 22 games (56 appearances). He started all 17 games at left guard last season. His play was inconsistent in his debut season as a starter, which was not enough to secure his job.”

Brian O’Neill hypes the crowd after a win vs. the Cardinals on Dec. 1, 2024.
Minnesota right tackle Brian O’Neill (75) pumps up the home crowd after a December 1, 2024, win against the Arizona Cardinals at U.S. Bank Stadium. O’Neill remains a cornerstone of the offensive line and is known for his leadership, toughness, and connection with fans.

The excitement surrounding Minnesota’s offensive line is probably the most prominent since 2009 or 2010.

Eckardt added, “It seems as if Jackson has already taken over at left guard, and Brandel will be the top guard reserve, although there could be a real competition for that lone slot once Fries fully returns. If Jackson remains with the first-team offense by that point, he can safely be assumed to start in Week 1.”

“Regardless, the Vikings have come a long way if the backups are players with starting experience and the five starters are either players on expensive contracts, former Pro Bowlers, or high draft picks. The time of assembling an offensive line by acquiring cheap free agents might be over in the Twin Cities.”

5. The Offensive Line Will Win the Battle over Defensive Front 7

From: Tadd | @ST7cubs

My training camp prediction is that the offensive line will “win” the battle. I’m excited about the new additions on both sides of the ball, but the talk will be about the revamped o-line and how well they protected McCarthy.

6. RB Jordan Mason Kills It at Camp

From: Chris | @skol227

Jordan Mason runs for a touchdown against Dallas on Oct. 8, 2023.
San Francisco 49ers running back Jordan Mason (24) scores a fourth-quarter touchdown during a dominant October 8, 2023, win over the Dallas Cowboys at Levi’s Stadium. Mason continues to emerge as a physical runner behind Christian McCaffrey in the 49ers’ high-powered offense.

My main prediction is that Jordan Mason will excel at camp, and the ‘Who is the starter at RB?’ conversation will begin.

7. No Major Vikings Injuries

From: Skol Tom | @SkolfromWI

The Vikings will get through training camp this year without any big injuries or criminal proceedings for their players.
