Myles Garrett sent a seismic shockwave through the NFL on Monday, demanding a trade from the Cleveland Browns and sending fanbases of every team to this hills wondering if their favorite squad could land the six-time All-Pro.

The Vikings’ fanbase was not excluded.

A boisterous aggregator on X, formerly known as Twitter, The Purple Persuasion, tweeted after the Garrett trade request: “With DE Myles Garrett requesting a trade from Cleveland, if you’re the Vikings, would you trade OLB Dallas Turner and pick No. 24 for Garrett?”

When Garrett’s trade request initially hit national airwaves, most Vikings enthusiasts didn’t even consider Minnesota a destination. Why? Well, the purple team employs Jonathan Greenard, Andrew Van Ginkel, and Dallas Turner. EDGE rusher might be the last section on the depth chart that needs long-term attention.

Still, Vikings fans weighed in on the hypothetical Garrett sweepstakes. SSG Media‘s Dominique Clare tweeted, “The Vikings just need to sign and draft players that are system fits and improve our weak areas. They do not need to trade system fits and assets for Myles Garrett. Let’s move along.”

Jason Harmon of The Skolcial Network opined, “The Vikings do not have the capital nor the positional need for Myles Garrett.”

Others seemed more intrigued. @nathanham87 on X commented, “Tempting, simply because I’m not sure Turner is going to work out or not. But that’s still basically two firsts for a 29-year-old DE making a ton of money.”

@SportStati0n1 added, “Of course, I’d give a blank check to get Garrett might be the best football player and has been super durable and no distractions.”

Here’s Garrett’s full trade request: “As a kid dreaming of the NFL, all I focused on was the ultimate goal of winning a Super Bowl-and that goal fuels me today more than ever. My love for the community of Northeast Ohio and the incredible fanbase of the Cleveland Browns has made this one of the toughest decisions of my life. These past eight years have shaped me into the man that I am today.”

The eventual trade price, assuming the Browns don’t play hardball with Garrett, will be wholly astronomical. Even at age 29, some team will pay at least a 1st-Round pick for Garrett and probably a lot more.

Garrett then cut to the chase, “While I’ve loved calling this city my home, my desire to win and compete on the biggest stages won’t allow me to be complacent. The goal was never to go from Cleveland to Canton, it has always been to compete for and win a Super Bowl. With that in mind, I have requested to be traded from the Cleveland Browns.”

Minnesota Vikings general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah at the 2023 NFL Combine in Indianapolis, IN. The Vikings finished 13-4 in the first year under Adofo-Mensah’s general management.

The soon-to-be former Brown is a six-time Pro Bowler, six-time All-Pro, and won the NFL Defensive Player of the Year award in 2023.

Generally speaking, a trade to the Vikings is not realistic, mainly because Minnesota spent a good chunk of its 2025 draft class nine months ago on the aforementioned Turner.
