Vikings Bring in 5 Players for a Workout, Including a 6’4″ Speedster

The Vikings bringing in some talent arrives at a reasonably convenient time.
After all, the 2025 season is mercifully coming to a close, meaning the focus is shifting to the future. Add in that there are some practice squad openings — so long, Desmond Ridder & Corey Kiner — and there’s easy spots to slot in some new talent.
Consider what NFL insider Aaron Wilson had to say: “#Vikings worked out Quinton Barrow, Elijah Cooks, Joaquin Davis, Jaylon Hutchings, Dohnte Meyers.”
At least a pair of those players have done good work in the CFL. Note, as well, that we’re considering an offensive lineman (Barrow), a defensive lineman (Hutchings), and then a trio of receivers (Davis, Cooks, and Meyers).
Vikings Bring in Talent for a Workout
Start off with one option: receiver Joaquin Davis.
Initially a Bronco, Mr. Davis received some pre-draft optimism in one scouting report: “Height, length and speed are all check marks in Davisโ favor. His rare blend of length, elite speed and foot quickness will be enticing to a team late in the draft or as a priority free agent. Heโs still very unrefined as a route-runner and needs to improve his play strength and catch consistency. While there are issues to work through, his ability to separate and stretch the field creates an intriguing ceiling.”

Folks, there’s no coach capable of teaching 6’4″. A player either has that height or doesn’t. Partner the tremendous length with a sizzling forty time — he ran a blistering 4.36 — and it’s easy to see the appeal.
As things stand, Minnesota’s fans are focused on the disaster at quarterback. The passer problem has the led to a Justin Jefferson who isn’t too happy. Many are concerned that the simmering water will soon spill over as the pot comes to a rolling boil. Turning down the heat is what everyone wants to see so that the historically-great receiver doesn’t skip town.
In the background, Minnesota is continuing to consider options. Could a tremendously tall and fast receiver — albeit one who evidently needs improvement — be a player who someday opens room underneath for Jefferson? Obviously, the workout doesn’t do anything to solve the present-day problems, but Minnesota continues to chip away at trying to uncover talent.
Elijah Cooks is another receiver with impressive size. He stands at 6’4″ and weighs 215 pounds. He offered some work for the Jaguars in 2023 and 2024, picking up 4 targets that got turned into 3 catches for 38 yards.
Strangely enough, the snaps on offense outpace the snaps on specials. He has also spent some time with the Eagles.

Dohnte Meyers isn’t as large, coming in at 5’10” and 190 pounds. Per the CFL website, the pass catcher turned 65 catches into 1,056 yards and 8 touchdowns. He just won the Grey Cup — the Canadian championship — so he has some experience in large moments.
Jaylon Hutchings is a d-lineman who previously worked for the Bears. His college ball was played at Texas Tech. He is a sturdy 6’0″ and 305 pounds.
Finally, Quinton Barrow is an o-lineman who is built like an o-lineman. He comes in at 6’6″ and weighs 331 pounds (think Cam Robinson). For whatever it’s worth, Minnesota’s o-line has gone through no shortage of injury turmoil, meaning beefed up o-line depth has its appeal for the Vikings.
Best case across the board is that one or two of these guys get added to the practice squad. The Vikings could even circle back around in January, bringing these guys back on low-level deals to jump into the offseason’s 90-man roster battle.

The Vikings host the Commanders in Week 14. Minnesota is 4-8 and many want the team to continue tumbling to ensure a top-ten selection arrives.
