Unsigned Vikings RB Lands with Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens are generally known for running back supremacy, and now a former Minnesota Vikings tailback will get in on the fun, at least for the remainder of the summer.
One former Vikings RB has found a new place of employment, trying on the 2025 Baltimore Ravens for size. He’ll fight for a spot on the BAL 53-man roster.
Myles Gaskin, an on-again-off-again runner with the Vikings in the last two seasons, parlayed an audition last weekend into a roster spot.
He’s the newest Raven.
Former Vikings RB Myles Gaskin Picks the Ravens
Gaskin will now fight for regular season roster placement.

Myles Gaskin to Baltimore
NFL insider Jordan Schultz tweeted Saturday: “Sources: The Ravens are signing free agent RB Myles Gaskin after he worked out for the team today. Gaskin was with the Vikings last season and previously played for the Dolphins. He has 13 career touchdowns.”
Baltimore has two preseason games remaining, and for some roster depth, Gaskin will get some run with John Harbaugh’s team.
A Tryout with the Giants Last Week
Gaskin actually worked out for the New York Giants last week, but no deal came to fruition.
The ex-Viking had fired up a relatively quiet offseason until this month, when the auditions began to come his way. In New York, Gaskin would’ve supported halfbacks like Tyrone Tracy and rookie Cam Skattebo. With Baltimore, probably for a couple of weeks, Gaskin will become an RB option behind future Hall of Famer Derrick Henry.

Gaskin has back-to-back purple employers.
The Ravens’ Updated RB Room
With the Gaskin transaction official, here’s a look at Baltimore’s RB corps as of August 11th:
- Derrick Henry
- Justice Hill
- Keaton Mitchell
- Rasheen Ali
- Marcus Major Jr.
- D’Ernest Johnson
- Myles Gaskin
And a peek at Gaskin’s NFL resume since turning pro in 2019:
- Miami Dolphins (2019–2022)
- Los Angeles Rams (2023)
- Minnesota Vikings (2023–2024)
- Jacksonville Jaguars (2024)
- Baltimore Ravens (2025–now)
Gaskin primarily filled a practice squad role in Minnesota during the last two seasons, though he returned 3 kicks in five games a season ago. The Vikings are on the cusp of handing kick returning duties to rookie wideout Tai Felton this season.
Gaskin’s 2025 Outlook
The odds of Gaskin making a dent in the Ravens’ deep RB room are quite low. Of course, injuries could ruin Baltimore’s plans, but with the regular season about three weeks away, Gaskin should be perceived as a probable roster cut on August 26th — maybe an option for Harbaugh’s practice squad.

Thankfully for Gaskin’s sake, he’s no stranger to practice squad life.
Gaskin has compiled 2,044 yards from scrimmage on 466 career touches in 46 games played.
Ravens-Themed Media on Gaskin
Baltimore Beatdown‘s Frank Platko opined on the Gaskin signing over the weekend: “As for his role with the Ravens, Gaskin is likely to max out as nothing more than another training camp body who can eat snaps in preseason. This is similar to De’Ernest Johnson, whom the Ravens added to the mix just last week and he immediately saw 18 carries in the team’s preseason opener.”
“The Ravens’ depth chart at the position is already established with Derrick Henry, Justice Hill and Keaton Mitchell forming the 1-3 trio. Mitchell shined on Thursday with a team-high 68 rushing yards and a touchdown on just nine carries — showcasing he’s returned to pre-injury form and looks like his 2023 self.”
Gaskin turned 28 this offseason.

“However, the electric scat back got nicked up with an injury and could be held out of the remaining preseason games. Fellow young running back Rasheen Ali also suffered an undisclosed injury against the Colts after rushing for 37 yards and a touchdown of his own,” Platko continued.
“With these injuries compounded and the Ravens almost certain to refrain from giving Henry and Hill any preseason snaps, the signings of Gaskin and Johnson as a bundle make sense. If one of these two veterans were to shine over the next couple of weeks, they could potentially push Ali for the No. 4 running back job – but the Ravens may not even ultimately keep four running backs on the 53-man roster.”
So, it’s a “camp body” for now, with the possibility of active roster upside if an RB injury rattles the Ravens.
