These 11 Vikings Players Remain in Limbo

The Minnesota Vikings offseason is humming, with about a dozen new players joining the franchise and a similar amount unsigned as of March 29th.
These 11 Vikings Players Remain in Limbo
Free agency has ground to a halt, for the most part. Most attention has shifted to the 2025 NFL Draft.
Heading into April, these 11 Vikings players from the 2024 roster have not joined new teams and need NFL homes. They’re listed alphabetically.
1. Cam Akers (RB)
Through three waves of free agency, Akers has signed nowhere and may now have to wait until after the draft when general managers examine their RB fallout.

Akers is a dependable RB2 or RB3 and will find a team before too long.
2. Jonathan Bullard (DT)
Quietly, Bullard played for the Vikings in three consecutive seasons. However, in previous offseasons, he would’ve signed back in Minnesota by now.

Bullard is a sweet run-stopper who evidently doesn’t have a roster spot with Javon Hargrave and Jonathan Allen in the mix.
3. Dan Feeney (iOL)
Dan Feeney didn’t play much for the 2024 Vikings, but he could’ve filled in at center or guard in a pinch.

He and his sweet haircut will fill out some team’s iOL depth after the draft.
4. Stephen Gilmore (CB)
“I’m probably the last corner playing. So, definitely going to sit down with my family and think about what’s best for me and go from there,” Gilmore said in January about his 2012 draft class, mentioning that his body was “feeling it.”

When Gilmore injured his hamstring in a win over the Arizona Cardinals in December, it seemed the Vikings would take his recovery cautiously. They did, causing Gilmore to miss two games. On the whole, however, Gilmore’s stop in Minnesota was rather successful. He produced a 63.9 Pro Football Focus grade this season, decent by most standards, along with a 99.4 passer-rating-against.
Retirement seems like his next stop.
5. Shaquill Griffin (CB)
Minnesota could sign Griffin if it decides a spot-starting corner is needed this summer.

For example, last summer, rookie cornerback Khyree Jackson passed away, and Mekhi Blackmon tore his ACL right away at training camp.
The Vikings could call Griffin in a pinch if bizarre stuff went down.
6. Kamu Grugier-Hill (LB)
General manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah signed Eric Wilson — a blast from the past — this month, perhaps cancelling a Grugier-Hill reunion.

But the veteran linebacker will sign somewhere before Week 1.
7. Fabian Moreau (CB)
Another veteran depth corner, Minnesota won’t need Moreau in 2025 unless emergencies hit.

Moreau has ample NFL experience.
8. Brandon Powell (WR)
Rondale Moore became a Viking in free agency, and he’s a younger man’s Brandon Powell.

The Powell era in Minnesota is kaput.
9. David Quessenberry (OT)
Justin Skule, a reservist offensive tackle, took Quessenberry’s job this offseason. Some organization will require OT depth after the draft and give Quessenberry a jingle.

For his role on a team, Quessenberry is an excellent LT2 or RT2.
10. Dalton Risner (G)
This poor guy never gets signed during the first few weeks of free agency.

It’s an annual tradition for Risner, and he’ll hang out this spring until a guard-needy hits his line.
11. Jihad Ward (OLB)
Dallas Turner is poised to earn more defensive snaps for the 2025 Vikings, rendering Ward an odd man out, at least through three weeks of free agency.

A general manager will notice his defensive line versatility and sign him this spring or summer.
