It was a wild first half of football in Minnesota on Sunday as the Vikings blitzed out to a 34-3 lead over the Cincinnati Bengals.

Very rarely is a lead that large seen after just 30 minutes of football, and it took multiple players making Vikings history for it to happen.

Isaiah Rodgers Has Historic First Half for Vikings

Isaiah Rodgers had a first half for the ages in Week 3. The cornerback not only recorded an interception, but he took it all the way back to the house for a touchdown.

Then, he forced a fumble, recovered it himself, and he took that turnover all the way back for a touchdown as well.

The least impressive feat of them all was yet another forced fumble that was recovered by Jeff Okudah and immediately led to yet another Vikings touchdown.

Field Yates of ESPN has the historic prevalence of Rodgers’ elite half:

“Vikings CB Isaiah Rodgers Sr. is the first player in NFL history with a pick-6, a fumble returned for a touchdown and two forced fumbles in a single game,” Yates wrote on X. “He did it in one half.”

He also became the first player in Vikings franchise history to score multiple defensive touchdowns in the same game.

Will Reichard Makes Longest Field Goal in Vikings History

As if the Vikings needed any more help scoring points in the first half, Will Reichard also decided to make franchise history.

As time ticked down the clock, Reichard lined up for a 62-yard field goal attempt inside U.S. Bank Stadium. He nailed the kick as the clock hit triple zeros, and it officially made him the record holder for the longest field goal by a Vikings kicker.

The previous record, of course, was held by his predecessor Greg Joseph, who made a 61-yard field as time expired against the New York Giants in Week 16 of the 2022 season. That kick had a little bit more pressure to it as the kick officially clinched the NFC North title for Minnesota that year.

It’s not the first record Reichard has set this season. In Week 1, he also set the record for the longest field goal in the history of Soldier Field when he nailed a 59-yarder.
