What Minnesota Vikings Fans Need to Know Ahead of Week 7 vs. Philadelphia Eagles

The Minnesota Vikings are well-rested after a week off, and now, they are ready to get back to work.
They’re jumping straight into the deep end this weekend with a matchup against the defending champion Philadelphia Eagles, though the champs have been struggling lately with two consecutive losses. Now, the Vikings have a chance to jump ahead of them in the NFC playoff race if they are able to pull off a win.
Ahead of the Week 7 matchup, here is a look at what Vikings fans need to know.
How to Watch the Minnesota Vikings This Week

The Eagles and Vikings will kick off at 12 p.m. Central inside U.S. Bank Stadium on Sunday, October 19. The game will be broadcast on FOX and can be streamed via NFL+ in the NFL app as well as Sunday NFL Ticket through YouTube TV.
Eagles vs. Vikings History

The Eagles and Vikings have seen each other a lot over the past decade, meeting up six times since 2016. Despite that, the matchup has been played just 31 times since they first met back in 1962.
Historically, the Vikings dominated this rivalry early in its existence, winning the first seven games. However, by winning four of the past six matchups, the Eagles now have the all-time series lead with a 16-15 record against the Vikings, including wins in all four playoff meetings.
Eagles Spotlight Player: DT Jalen Carter

The Eagles have built their recent success by dominating opponents in the trenches on both sides of the football. Their offensive line has been one of the best in football during this multi-year run, and they have landed a few beasts at the defensive tackle position, including Jalen Carter.
However, Carter missed Philadelphia’s Week 6 game against the New York Giants, and we all saw what happened. Cam Skattebo ran free throughout the night, scoring three touchdowns against the Eagles. Carter was limited in practice on Thursday, and his status is once again in question heading into the weekend.
Minnesota has not been able to establish much of a rushing attack so far this year, but if Carter is forced to sit out of this game, perhaps this week could be the one to get it going as their offensive line gets healthy.
Vikings Spotlight Player: LB Blake Cashman

Of course, one storyline everyone will be talking about is the likelihood of Carson Wentz making a start against the team that drafted him.
However, let’s turn to the defense once again. Blake Cashman joined the Vikings in 2024 and instantly became one of the most impactful defenders on the roster. The linebacker has missed the past four games because of a hamstring injury, but now, he appears set to return to the field on Sunday after being a full participant in practice each of the past two days.
In the 16 games Cashman has played in a Vikings uniform, the team is 14-2. When he’s been off the field, they are 3-4. His presence could be what turns this defense from a good unit to a great one.
