Jordan Addison’s Trial for 2024 DUI Begins

Tuesday marked a semi-important date on the Vikings’ calendar as the DUI trial for Jordan Addison got underway.
The trial stems from a July 12, 2024 incident in which Addison was found asleep behind the wheel near LAX. He faces two misdemeanor drunk driving charges.
Just over a year later, Addison now faces a jury. It’s an important step in the process for the Vikings because, if convicted, Addison faces at least a three-game suspension, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

“If convicted, Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison could be facing a baseline three-game suspension, per NFL policy,” Schefter wrote in a post on X Tuesday morning.
A 2023 first-round pick by the Vikings, Addison has blossomed into a terrific WR2 alongside on the field next to Justin Jefferson.
Addison’s blend of breakaway speed and pinpoint route running makes him a very dangerous threat both down the field and in the red zone.
Last season, Addison built off a strong rookie season to turn in a 63-reception campaign, totaling 875 yards and nine touchdowns.

Addison has pleaded not guilty to the charges, but if he is suspended, the Vikings have built a strong infrastructure at the wide receiver position in order to withstand missing him for a few games.
Somewhat surprisingly, the Vikings had a very active offseason at the wide receiver position, signing multiple free agents and selecting Tai Felton in the third round of this spring’s draft.
Felton, a Maryland product, is a very speedy receiver who totaled a whopping 96 receptions for 1124 yards and nine touchdowns with the Terrapins last season. All totals were career-highs.
Rondale Moore, one of those free agent signings, totaled at least 40 receptions in each of his first three NFL seasons before missing the entire 2024 season with injury. Moore signed a one-year, $1.4 million contract with the Vikings and comes into the year with a little extra fire in his belly to earn a bigger payday next spring.

Then, there’s mainstay Jalen Nailor, who held down the WR3 role beautifully in 2024, as the former sixth-round pick totaled career-highs in receptions (28), receiving yards, (414), and touchdowns (6).
Only time will tell how court proceedings go over the next few days for Addison, but we should know the receiver’s legal fate relatively soon.
