Ex-Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak is on the move once again.

Former Vikings Coach Lands New Job

Kubiak fell out of a job when the New Orleans Saints cleaned house this offseason, serving as the Saints’ offensive coordinator in 2024.

But the young coordinator wasn’t unemployed long, joining the Seattle Seahawks over the weekend as offensive coordinator. NFL Network‘s Ian Rapoport tweeted Sunday, “The Seahawks are hiring Saints OC Klint Kubiak as their new offensive coordinator, sources told The Insiders. After an exhaustive process, Seattle and coach Mike Macdonald lands their top choice.”

That’s five jobs in the last five seasons for Kubiak, the son of Super Bowl-winning head coach Gary Kubiak. The father Kubiak was also attached to the Vikings’ coaching staff from 2019 to 2020.

Before landing the gig in New Orleans last season, Kubiak chatted with the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers about OC gigs during the 2024 coaching carousel. He served as the San Francisco 49ers’ passing game coordinator in 2023 before joining the Saints last offseason. Kubiak offensively coordinated the Vikings for one season in 2021, which was Mike Zimmer’s final in Minnesota.

Kubiak was also the Vikings’ quarterback coach in 2019 and 2020 and offensive quality control coach from 2013 to 2014. In between, he was an offensive assistant in Denver (2016-2018).

Here’s his NFL resume to date:

— Minnesota Vikings (2013–2014)
Offensive quality control coach

— Denver Broncos (2016–2018)
Offensive assistant

— Minnesota Vikings (2019–2020)
Quarterbacks coach

— Minnesota Vikings (2021)
Offensive coordinator

— Denver Broncos (2022)
Passing game coordinator & QB coach

— San Francisco 49ers (2023)
Passing game coordinator

— New Orleans Saints (2024)
Offensive coordinator

Seattle Seahawks (2025)
Offensive coordinator

Seattle fired the 2024 offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb right after the 2024 season ended.

Kubiak led the Vikings offense inside the aforementioned 2021 season, an 8-9 campaign that led to the terminations of general manager Rick Spielman and Mike Zimmer. Coaching staffs are rarely retained when a new coach takes over, and with Kevin O’Connell and the Vikings three years ago, Kubiak was no different. Vikings fans aimed ire at Kubiak in 2021 for lackluster offensive performance and were subsequently not sad to see him leave.

As the Vikings’ offensive bossman in 2021, Kubiak’s offense ranked 17th leaguewide per offensive EPA/Play. Then, in Denver, the Broncos offense, plus Russell Wilson, sunk to 27th in the NFL in the same metric. Kubiak’s offense with the Saints ranked 25th in EPA/Play, though the season went belly up after Derek Carr got hurt.

The Seahawks’ offense ranked 18th leaguewide per EPA/Play in 2024. Quarterback Geno Smith has one year left on his contract, though no more guaranteed money is attached to the deal.

Kubiak will turn 38 next month.
