The Seattle Seahawks said goodbye to offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb this offseason, hoping to improve the offense in Year No. 2 under head coach Mike Macdonald next season. Seattle hired a different former Vikings skipper, Klint Kubiak, last weekend.

Current Vikings assistant quarterback coach Grant Udinski spoke with Seattle about the position, but Kubiak earned the job. Now, another former Vikings coach, Saints quarterbacks skipper Andrew Janocko, could follow Kubiak from New Orleans to Seattle, presumably as Seattle’s next quarterbacks coach.

So, yes, it’s just a flurry of ex-Vikings coaches in the mix to shape Seattle’s offense.

ESPN’s Katherine Terrell tweeted Thursday, “The Seahawks requested and were granted permission to interview Saints quarterbacks coach Andrew Janocko.”

Janocko worked for the Vikings in various capacities from 2014 to 2021.

Terrell added, “The Saints would like to keep Janocko but as they close in on a head coach, they have been letting more coaches interview and leave for lateral positions. Some position coaches were waiting to see if Darren Rizzi would get the permanent job.”

Ex-Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins fired off his best season as a pro on Janocko’s watch in 2021 when Janocko filled the Vikings’ quarterback coach assignment. In New Orleans last year, he dealt with injuries to Derek Carr and a platter of Spencer Rattler and Jake Haener — also known as a less-than-ideal ordeal.

Here’s Janocko’s NFL resume since 2015:

Minnesota Vikings (2015–2016)
Offensive quality control coach

MIN (2017)
Assistant offensive line coach

MIN (2018)
Co-offensive line coach

MIN (2019)
Assistant offensive line coach

MIN (2020)
Wide receivers coach

MIN (2021)
Quarterbacks coach

Chicago Bears (2022–2023)
Quarterbacks coach

New Orleans Saints (2024–present)
Quarterbacks coach

Before transitioning to the Vikings in 2015, Janocko worked as a graduate assistant at Rutgers (2011), an offensive quality control coach for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2012-2013), and a quarterbacks coach at Mercyhurst (2014).

Seattle will have a decision afoot at quarterback this offseason, whether Janocko is hired or not. Geno Smith has led the Seahawks as of late, but he has no more guaranteed money attached to his deal. In theory, Seattle could release Smith and save up to $31 million.

It’s also worth noting that the Seahawks could explore Sam Darnold’s free agency, a man who quarterbacked the Vikings in 2024.

Seattle’s offense ranked 18th per DVOA in 2024, and Kubiak will be tasked with improving the mediocre ranking.

Janocko might be along for the ride.
