He interviewed with the Seattle Seahawks last week, and now he’ll accept the vacant quarterback coach job.

Former Vikings Coach Hired in Seattle

That’s Andrew Janocko, a former Minnesota Vikings coach, and he’s reuniting with ex-Vikings offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak in the Emerald City.

NFL Network‘s Tom Pelissero tweeted Monday, “And another one: The Seahawks are hiring Andrew Janocko as their quarterbacks coach, per source. Still only 36 years old, Janocko was also Klint Kubiak’s QB coach in Minnesota and New Orleans. Now Kubiak is bringing the gang to Seattle.”

Current Vikings assistant quarterback coach Grant Udinski spoke with Seattle about the open offensive coordinator position, but Kubiak earned the job. And with Kubiak in the saddle as offensive coordinator, he got his man, carrying Janocko over from the New Orleans Saints staff, where the twosome was employed in 2024.

So, yes, a bunch of former Vikings coaches were in the mix to run Seattle’s 2025 offense.

Janocko worked for the Vikings in various capacities from 2014 to 2021. Ex-Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins fired off his best season as a pro on Janocko’s watch in 2021 when Janocko filled the Vikings’ quarterback coach assignment. In New Orleans last year, he dealt with injuries to Derek Carr and a platter of Spencer Rattler and Jake Haener — also known as a less-than-ideal ordeal.

Here’s Janocko’s NFL resume since 2015:

Minnesota Vikings (2015–2016)
Offensive quality control coach

MIN (2017)
Assistant offensive line coach

MIN (2018)
Co-offensive line coach

MIN (2019)
Assistant offensive line coach

MIN (2020)
Wide receivers coach

MIN (2021)
Quarterbacks coach

Chicago Bears (2022–2023)
Quarterbacks coach

New Orleans Saints (2024)
Quarterbacks coach

Before transitioning to the Vikings in 2015, Janocko worked as a graduate assistant at Rutgers (2011), an offensive quality control coach for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2012-2013), and a quarterbacks coach at Mercyhurst (2014).

Seattle will have a decision afoot at quarterback this offseason as Geno Smith has led the Seahawks as of late, but he has no more guaranteed money attached to his deal. In theory, Seattle could release Smith and save up to $31 million.

It’s also worth noting that the Seahawks could explore Sam Darnold’s free agency, a man who quarterbacked the Vikings in 2024.

Seattle’s offense ranked 18th per DVOA in 2024, and Kubiak + Janocko will be tasked with improving the mediocre ranking.

The Vikings beat the Seahawks in December thanks to the aforementioned Darnold’s clutch 4th quarter performance — and play them again in 2025.

Janocko will turn 37 in April.
