Dustin Baker’s Bold NFL Predictions for the Summer

Last weekend, VikingsTerritory revealed bold predictions for the Minnesota Vikings’ summer.
Outside of the Vikings’ purview, these are bold NFL predictions for the NFL this summer.
Those can be read here.
Now, sights turn to the NFL, on the whole, and organized team activities (OTAs) are nearing commencement. So, these are bold predictions for the NFL this summer.
Daniel Jones Wins QB1 Job in Indianapolis
Anthony Richardson has a treasure trove of raw talent that the Indianapolis Colts should develop, banking on patience and the investment in their 2023 1st-Rounder.
But they won’t do it.

The team that already benched Richardson last year for geriatric Joe Flacco will watch as Daniel Jones fires up a productive summer, deciding that Jones gives the Colts a better chance to win in 2025. After a tight training camp and preseason battle, Jones will win the QB1 job by a whisker, and folks will be left to wonder about Richardson’s career trajectory.
Later in the season, when the Colts have a 4-6 record, they’ll kick it back to Richardson after a couple months of the Danny Dimes experience.
Travis Etienne Traded to Commanders
In addition to Etienne on the depth chart, the Jacksonville Jaguars have these running backs in the house:
- Tank Bigsby
- Bhayshul Tuten
- LaQuint Allen
- Keilan Robinson
- Ja’Quinden Jackson
Etienne enters the final year of his contract, and he almost certainly won’t be back in Jacksonville after the Jaguars drafted Tuten from Virginia Tech.

So, to bolster running back depth next to Brian Robinson and Austin Ekeler in Washington, the Commanders will donate a 5th-Round pick to Jacksonville for Etienne.
Von Miller Signs with Eagles
Vic Fangio coached Miller in Denver, and as Miller nears the end of his career, he has latched onto Super Bowl-contending teams. There is no more contending Super Bowl team than the Eagles, the club that won the chip in February.
Of course, Fangio defensively coordinated the Eagles to a championship last year, and Philadelphia rarely shies away from welcoming an absurd amount of roster depth.

Therefore, after training camp, when the hard work is in the books, Miller will turn green for one final hurrah.
Trevon Diggs Traded to Bears
The Dallas Cowboys must pay Micah Parsons, George Pickens, and Daron Bland before too long — on top of already compensating Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb rather handsomely.
Something’s gotta give for Dallas’ finances, and a player like Diggs might be the odd man out per roster construction.

Chicago, meanwhile, has the cap space and draft picks to wheel and deal for a prominent defender like Diggs. Ryan Poles will pull the trigger, and Diggs will replace Tyrique Stevenson in the starting lineup.
Al Harris is the Bears’ defensive backs coach, and he previously worked with Diggs in Dallas.
SI.com‘s Jose Sanchez wrote about Diggs’ situation in Dallas, “Diggs is expected to miss the start of the season after suffering a second straight season-ending knee injury in late 2024.”
“Interestingly, in the past two years, the Cowboys have spent valuable NFL Draft picks on promising young cornerbacks like Caelen Carson and Shavon Revel. The team also traded for former first-round pick Kaiir Elam this offseason and faces a contract dilemma with DaRon Bland after this season.”
Dallas may already be ready for life after Diggs.
Amari Cooper Signs with Chargers
Chargers wide receiver coach Sanjay Lal worked with Cooper in Dallas, and Cooper has not signed anywhere yet from free agency.

Los Angeles doesn’t necessarily need more wide receivers — Ladd McConkey, Mike Williams, Tre Harris, and Quentin Johnston will do the trick — but to get deeper for Justin Herbert’s weapon arsenal on Sundays, the Chargers will take the plunge for a year with Cooper.
He’s the kind of player who would develop instant chemistry with Herbert.
