The 6-8 Minnesota Vikings and 2-12 New York Giants will face off Sunday at MetLife Stadium. Minnesota leads the all-time series 19-13.

Minnesota has had a disappointing season after going 14-3 the previous season. New York, for the third straight season, is among the league’s worst teams. The Vikings won 34-26 on the road against the Dallas Cowboys last week and are on a two-game winning streak.

Siddiquiโ€™s projection hinges on quarterback play and recent momentum, framing this matchup as a controlled test for Minnesota rather than a shootout.

New York lost 29-21 to the Washington Commanders last week on the road and is on an eight-game losing streak. These two teams last faced each other in Week 1 of last season in the Meadowlands.

Ali Siddiqui’s Breakdown and Final Prediction For Giants vs. Vikings

Sam Darnold went 19/24 for 208 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception. Aaron Jones rushed for 94 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries. Justin Jefferson caught four passes for 59 yards and a touchdown.

On defense, Byron Murphy Jr. recorded a game-high nine tackles. Andrew Van Ginkel, in his Minnesota debut, recorded a sack and returned an interception 10 yards for a touchdown. Pat Jones II recorded two sacks.

For New York, Daniel Jones went 22/42 for 186 yards and two interceptions. Malik Nabers caught five passes for 66 yards. On defense, Darius Muasau tied for a team-high with six tackles and also recorded an interception.

Minnesota won 28-6 and finished the season at 14-3, earning a Wildcard berth. They, however, lost to the Los Angeles Rams on the road in the first round. New York finished at 3-14 and missed the playoffs for the seventh time in eight seasons.

No matter what happens during these final three games, this season without a doubt will be considered a disappointment for Minnesota. They are coming off a 14-win season and also had a very active free agency. Their new additions have not panned out as hoped. J.J. McCarthy has played well over the past two games, but overall, he has not looked good when on the field.

On the bright side, McCarthy’s play these past two games gives the team and fans some hope for the time being. If he finishes the season strong and Minnesota goes at least 2-1 the rest of the way, it would give everyone involved with the organization more hope heading into 2026 and beyond.

It is still too early to say whether McCarthy will pan out, but his play over the past two games is definitely a step in the right direction. Despite this team being eliminated from playoff contention, these final three games matter plenty for McCarthy and the team’s future. It is also always good to end the season on a better note.

The play of fellow young players Donovan Jackson, Dallas Turner, Levi Drake Rodriguez, and Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins will matter too. Jackson has had a good rookie season, and Turner has been playing well lately. Rodriguez and Ingram-Dawkins have shown some flashes and could each very well have bigger roles in 2026.

Jonathan Allen and Javon Hargrave have not panned out this season, and both could very well be gone after the season. At the very least, one will be gone.

Best key without a doubt, these final three games are how No. 9 looks. If he keeps playing like he did the previous two games, even his most prominent critics may just be convinced he could be the franchise guy for years to come. These final games matter plenty for McCarthy and this franchise.

Prediction: Minnesota wins 27-17
