7 Draft Recommendations for the Vikings

2024 Minnesota Vikings draft. The team entered the event needing a quarterback, defensive tackle, and interior offensive linemen. The draft took place in Detroit, Michigan, from April 25th to April 27th.

The 2025 NFL Draft is about 3.5 weeks away, and the Minnesota Vikings have four picks in the event.

7 Draft Recommendations for the Vikings

That total could grow with some trades, and general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah loves to wheel and deal.

To prepare for the draft, we asked Vikings fans for a draft recommendation — an open-ended forum for anything on their minds.

Question to all: Pretty simple — aside from drafting the best player available (because that is obvious), what’s your overall draft recommendation for the Vikings? This can be a player, strategy, or anything you want.

Here are fans’ responses.

1. Get a CB or DT

Minnesota needs to take advantage of the offensive nature of the league and get a value CB or DT at pick 24.

2. Don’t Trade Back Just for the Heck of It

Don’t trade back for the sake of trading back. We don’t have to go too far back in Vikings draft history to remember that taking your one best shot at an impact player can be more effective than multiple shots from a more depleted pool.

3. Trade Back and Build the Trenches

Strategy-wise, they should try to trade down as much as possible unless there is a guy too good to pass up (Harmon, Nolen, maybe Zabel) but continue to build depth in the trenches. They filled many needs this offseason, but I would like them to continue getting quality depth on both lines. They need at least one more CB in rounds 1-3, though, in addition to the trenches.

4. Don’t Be Greedy

If there is an outstanding selection available, don’t trade back. If there are several players you could choose, then trade back only a few spots. Nothing more than that. Don’t be greedy, Vikings. Choose quality over quantity.

5. Build Non-Round-1 Capital

The Vikings have built up what could be one of the best rosters in the league, but draft capital is definitely lacking. I’d like to see them trade back in the first round and build up draft capital in the mid-rounds this year or the 2nd round of the 2026 draft. It would allow for a bit more maneuverability around the draft board next year and going forward.

6. Get a Safety

Get a safety. See if one of the top guys drops, but I think Kwesi trades this pick.

t7. Trade Down to Pick No. 35-45 Range

Trade down once or twice to the 35 to 45 pick range to accumulate additional picks and take whoever is the highest remaining player on board, preferably a DT that falls such as Harmon, Nolen, or Alexander, or CB Revel or Porter.

t7. Please Trade Down

Please trade down. Even how good a feeling you have about a player, you never know. If there’s one thing the Vikings need at this moment, it is more lottery tickets.
