21 Vikings Left — Here’s Where They Went

The Minnesota Vikings’ offseason has ended, as training camp kicked off this week.
The Vikings made plenty of headlines by adding new talent, but the quieter story is the sheer number of veterans who walked out the door. Here’s who left.
The offseason was robust for the Vikings, adding several new players in free agency and using the draft to onboard offensive guard Donovan Jackson, among others.
Along the way, 21 players from the 2024 roster left the organization. These are those men and where they landed, listed in alphabetical order.
Over 20 Vikings Left the Organization This Offseason
Listed alphabetically, here’s who left.

Cam Akers (RB)
Where He Went: New Orleans Saints
Akers lived on the open market for about three months before the Saints took the plunge. Now, he’ll vie for a roster spot in New Orleans, hoping to be an RB2 or RB3 behind Alvin Kamara.
Jonathan Bullard (DT)
Where He Went: New Orleans Saints
Bullard, too, picked New Orleans, and he’s likely to latch on this season as a DT4 or so.
Camryn Bynum (S)
Where He Went: Indianapolis Colts
The man who Vikings fans will miss the most, Bynum chased $60 million over four seasons with the Colts, while Minnesota promoted Theo Jackson to Bynum’s post. The celebration coordinator has vamoosed.
Sam Darnold (QB)
Where He Went: Seattle Seahawks
Like Bynum, Darnold pursued the biggest bag possible — rightfully so — and will lead the Seahawks in 2025 and perhaps beyond. He’ll also have rookie Jalen Milroe nipping at his heels, who has reportedly looked fantastic early at training camp.
Dan Feeney (OL)
Where He Went: Still a Free Agent
Minnesota didn’t use Feeney much in 2024, and now he’s having a rough time finding new employment.
Stephon Gilmore (CB)
Where He Went: Still a Free Agent

Gilmore might be the likeliest on the list to return in Minnesota, especially if any kind of cornerback injury again rattles Vikings training camp. The five-time Pro Bowler might have one season left in the tank and did not retire this offseason after careful deliberation.
Shaquill Griffin (CB)
Where He Went: Seattle Seahawks
Griffin is a teammate of Darnold again; the two picked the Seahawks. Signing with Seattle was poetic for Griffin — the team that brought him into this world eight years ago.
Kamu Grugier-Hill (LB)
Where He Went: Still a Free Agent
Grugier-Hill provided sturdy veteran depth in 2024, but the Vikings signed Eric Wilson and drafted Kobe King this offseason. Free agency is the current verdict for Grugier-Hill.
Ed Ingram (G)
Where He Went: Houston Texans
Minnesota ended the Ingram experiment in March, trading him to Houston and using that draft pick to acquire Jordan Mason from the San Francisco 49ers. A masterclass.
Daniel Jones (QB)
Where He Went: Indianapolis Colts
The Vikings reportedly wanted Jones back as quarterback insurance for J.J. McCarthy, but Jones believed he could start in Indianapolis, which might just be true. He’s battling Anthony Richardson for the QB1 job.
Patrick Jones II (OLB)
Where He Went: Carolina Panthers

Like D.J. Wonnum last year, Jones II chose the Panthers as his post-Vikings destination. He’s listed as a starter for Carolina, at least from a summer perspective.
Fabian Moreau (CB)
Where He Went: Still a Free Agent
Moreau played a little for Minnesota in 2024. He’s not a hot commodity in free agency.
Nick Mullens (QB)
Where He Went: Jacksonville Jaguars
Trevor Lawrence apparently needed a new backup, and with Vikings assistant quarterback coach Grant Udinski taking over the Jaguars’ offense, Mullens followed him. He’s the new QB2 in Jacksonville.
Johnny Mundt (TE)
Where He Went: Jacksonville Jaguars

Along with Udinski and Mullens, Mundt followed. The dependable TE3 will now offer his TE2 or TE3 services to Liam Coen’s team.
Brandon Powell (WR)
Where He Went: Still a Free Agent
This 29-year-old is jobless through four months of free agency — a little strange because Powell is a reliable return man. Perhaps some team will secure his services before the start of the regular season.
David Quessenberry (OT)
Where He Went: Los Angeles Rams
Quessenberry used to play backup offensive tackle for Kevin O’Connell. Now, he’s a backup offensive tackle for O’Connell’s former boss, Sean McVay.
Cam Robinson (OT)
Where He Went: Houston Texans
A week after the Texans traded for Ed Ingram, Houston locked in Robinson as a starting offensive tackle. That will help Minnestoa’s 2026 compensatory draft pick formula.
Dalton Risner (G)
Where He Went: Still a Free Agent
Risner never has any luck in free agency, and 2025 is no different. The man is a wonderful pass-protecting offensive guard, but teams just aren’t interested.
Trent Sherfield (WR)
Where He Went: Denver Broncos

Sherfield is in line to play WR4 or WR5 in Denver, and the Vikings might grab a 7th-Round compensatory pick in 2026 because of that.
Jerry Tillery (DT)
Where He Went: Kansas City Chiefs
Tillery will live behind the otherworldly Chris Jones on the Chiefs’ 2025 depth chart. His days as a starter might officially be kaput.
Jihad Ward (OLB)
Where He Went: Tennessee Titans
Ward signed in Tennessee this week, on deck to compete for a September roster spot.
Bonus: Najee Thompson (CB)
Where He Went: Still a Free Agent
Thompson wasn’t included in the “21” total of this list because he didn’t play last year. He spent 2024 on injured reserve. Minnesota formally dropped him this offseason. Thompson, though, did audition for the Arizona Cardinals this week.
