Vikings Start Offseason with Embarrassing Super Bowl Odds

The Minnesota Vikings won 14 games in 2024 — not an easy feat, especially with a quarterback in Sam Darnold, who most considered a “bust” entering his seventh NFL campaign.
Vikings Start Offseason with Embarrassing Super Bowl Odds
And usually when a team wins 14 games, oddsmakers give it a little respect for the next season, but such is not the case for Minnesota.

With Super Bowl LIX in the books, a commanding beatdown of the Kansas City Chiefs by the Philadelphia Eagles, Super Bowl LX odds are officially live — and the Vikings are not sitting pretty.
Sportsbooks believe Minnesota is the 15th-likeliest team to win the chip next season, sharing probability space with the Chicago Bears, as unbelievable as it sounds. The Vikings and Bears have a +4000 early moneyline to win it all in 2025.

Here’s the list one day after the Super Bowl:
- Philadelphia Eagles +600
- Kansas City Chiefs +700
- Buffalo Bills +700
- Baltimore Ravens +700
- Detroit Lions +1000
- San Francisco 49ers +1600
- Washington Commanders +1800
- Green Bay Packers +1800
- Cincinnati Bengals +2000
- Los Angeles Rams +2800
- Los Angeles Chargers +2800
- Houston Texans +3000
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers +3500
- Denver Broncos +3500
- Minnesota Vikings +4000
- Chicago Bears +4000
Without formal analysis provided by oddsmakers, the +4000 moneyline suggests that Minnesota’s 14-3 record in 2024 was rather fluky. Most 14-win teams should live in the Top 10 of Super Bowl odds, at the very least.
No cigar for the purple team.
So, why are the odds so insulting? Well, sportsbooks won’t award a team heading into the offseason with quarterback uncertainty. Minnesota has a decision in the next four weeks to re-sign Sam Darnold, who played magnificently for 16 games last season but collapsed in the playoffs, or roll with J.J. McCarthy, who was drafted by the Vikings with the 10th overall pick last April.

If Minnesota grants McCarthy the QB1 title, the +4000 moneyline might climb a bit — but not much.
The Vikings must also fix their trenches in free agency and the draft. The Eagles proved Sunday night that strong offensive and defensive lines are the blueprint for a Lombardi Trophy, even stifling the mighty Patrick Mahomes and preventing the dynastic Chiefs’ would-be three-peat.

Minnesota had the same +4000 moneyline to win the Super Bowl entering the 2024 offseason. The needle was not moved after a 14-win season. Not one bit.
NFL free agency is four weeks away.
