Vikings Round Table: The 1 Exciting Matchup We Look Forward to the Most

Ah, yes, another round table piece is about to make the rounds. I gathered opinions from four colleagues on which matchup they’re most looking forward to on this year’s Minnesota Vikings schedule.
Now, this is not the first schedule round table making an appearance on the site. Take a look back at this one from 2023. The Vikings kick off their season tomorrow night in Chicago against the Bears for the first Monday Night Football contest of the year.
So… what matchup do the five of us have circle on the schedule this year? Let’s take a closer look and see who we’re most intrigued to face off against.
The Vikings Round Table: What Game Are We Interested in the Most?
What better way to start the discussion than with Mr. Dustin Baker?
Dustin’s Pick: Week 15, Sunday, Dec. 14 @ Dallas Cowboys, 8:20pm EST/7:20pm CST, NBC
Dustin’s Reasoning: The regular season opener is the easy pick because of J.J. McCarthy’s first start. But let’s be different.
Week 15 at the Dallas Cowboys: Depending on the season’s flow, this game could be crucial for playoff scenarios, and Dallas has oddly had Minnesota’s number for about 10-12 years. The Cowboys have beaten the Vikings in five of six tries since the start of 2011. It’s time to flip that stat around for the next 15 years. It’s also the Vikings’ final primetime game of the season, barring postseason inclusion.

Now, that, there, is a very good argument to kick off the round table. And one late-season game that seems to be a loner amongst some of the other opinions that will be posted.
Okay, let’s burrow down the Golden Gopher hole and knock on Ted Schwerzler’s door.
Ted’s Pick: Week 8, Thursday, Oct. 23 @ Los Angeles Chargers, 8:15 PM EDT/7:15pm CDT, Amazon Prime Video
Ted’s Reasoning: Give me the Chargers game. That’s in the midst of a really tough stretch, and the most winnable of the bunch. They need to go out west and return with a victory.
That’s very true. And it’s one of two games that were shared on this round table. Let’s find out now what the other is, as we go north of the border to talk to Mr. KJ. No, not KJ Osborn, the Vikings wide receiver. We’re talking to Mr. Kyle Joudry.
Kyle’s Picks: Week 17, Thursday, Dec. 25 vs Detroit Lions, 4:30pm EST/3:30pm CST, on Netflix, and Week 18, either Saturday, Jan. 3, 2026, or Sunday, Jan. 4, 2026, vs Green Bay Packers, time to be determined.
Kyle’s Reasoning: Good question. Hard to evade that Week 17 (Lions at US Bank) and Week 18 (Packers at US Bank twosome, right? If the Vikings fulfill their potential, then those two games could — could — determine the NFC North.

Good call on this round table, Kyle. The divisional matchups, at least, toward the end of the season, could be seen as a measuring stick for a team’s resume when trying to make it to the playoffs. And speaking of late-season division matchups and opinions, let’s visit Ali Siddiqui.
Ali’s Pick: Week 17, Thursday, Dec. 25, 2025, vs Detroit Lions, 4:30pm EST/3:30pm CST, on Netflix
Ali’s Reasoning: Vikings-Lions Week 17. The division could be neck and neck between the two teams all season long. The winner could very well determine the NFC North winner.

Yeah, that’s a very good pick to consider. But now, it’s time to get the all-important opinion from the author of this round table article.
Nate’s Pick: Week 8, Thursday, Oct. 23 @ Los Angeles Chargers, 8:15pm EDT/7:15pm CST, on Amazon Prime Video
Nate’s Reasoning for this Round Table pick: Why? It’s Coach vs quarterback. Jim Harbaugh led J.J. McCarthy to success at the University of Michigan. Now, J.J. gets his first test against his head coach in the big time.
And, thus, the round table comes to an end. Skol on, Vikes. Skol on.
