Justin Jefferson’s Breakout Could Be Well-Timed

To say that Justin Jefferson has put up a disappointing level of performance this season would be putting it lightly. That’s hardly his fault, however, considering the production from quarterback J.J. McCarthy. The two have rarely been on the same page this season, but it’s time they get there, and the Packers would be a great opponent for it to happen against.

A breakout game for a Minnesota Vikings star wide receiver is much-needed this season, and Justin Jefferson could exploit the Packers.

Even in a down year, Jefferson still has 747 yards through 10 games. That’s well off his typical per-game average, and he has just two games in which he has surpassed the century mark. It’s fine for someone not known as the best wideout in the league, but his standard is unquestionably higher.

Justin Jefferson’s Timing Could Be Sweet at Lambeau Field

Looking for an opportunity to roll, both McCarthy and Jefferson getting in sync could provide a disaster for Green Bay on Sunday. Both of Jefferson’s 100-yard games this season came with Carson Wentz under center. Neither of them took place stateside, either.

Justin Jefferson Can Wrap

Against the Packers over the course of his career, a span of nine games, Jefferson has 714 yards and five touchdowns. He has often directed the ire of standout cornerback Jaire Alexander, but the veteran is no longer a cheesehead. If McCarthy can find ways to get his top option the football, then the Green Bay defense may be in for a long day.

Matt LaFleur’s team is in a good spot when it comes to record this season. However, he continues to be questioned when it comes to offensive tactics and efficiency. The Vikings pulling off a road upset would put the rival franchise on high alert, and allowing Jefferson to Griddy his way through the end zone as part of it would be fun to see.

Minnesota needs a win on Sunday if they are going to continue clinging to fading playoff hopes. There are multiple avenues for that to take place, but allowing it to be the McCarthy and Jefferson show should generate dividends that can then be exploited throughout the final six games of the regular season.

Both McCarthy and Jefferson need a big showing this season. It’s happening against the most hated rival, and with triple-digit yardage combined with a touchdown or two, it seems like some serious icing on the cake.
