The Vikings Added a Great Lineman You Aren’t Talking About

It’s fair to be overwhelmed by the amount of talent the Minnesota Vikings added on the offensive line this offseason. They overhauled two interior spots during free agency and added a third in the draft.

Donovan Jackson, Will Fries, and Ryan Kelly should all start for Kevin O’Connell in Week 1. Aside from two stellar bookends in Christian Darrisaw and Brian O’Neill, the group will have been turned over entirely.

What also seems possible is that they added another talent in their undrafted free agent crop that could threaten for a real role. Enter Logan Brown.
The offensive tackle from Kansas looked like a mid-round pick and somehow slid out of the draft entirely. He possesses similar measurables to multiple first-round picks and could be an absolute steal for the Vikings.
Last year. Minnesota needed to swing a deal for Cam Robinson after Darrisaw went down with a season-ending injury. The hope is that the star left tackle will be ready to go out of the gate, but Brown’s provision of a real level of insurance is massive. Minnesota didn’t have a great internal option last season, which has now changed.

The Vikings still roster Walter Rouse, but Brown could push him for a high spot on the depth chart. As a tackle, Brown could also fill in for O’Neill. Minnesota hasn’t seen their two star ends be pillars of health, and having depth is a must over the course of a full season.
Minnesota will have training camp to evaluate Brown and ultimately decide on his role.

Although the starters will draw most of the headlines going into the season, it cannot be overlooked just how impactful another strong undrafted free agent talent may wind up being.
