The NFL season is fast approaching now that teams have trimmed their rosters down to 53 players.

With that in mind, let’s take a look across the league and break down every division. Today, we begin that process with predictions for the AFC East.

1. Buffalo Bills (13-4)

Make it a third 13-win season in the past four years for the Bills. Buffalo does not have a difficult schedule particularly early in the season. They play just six games against playoff teams from 2024, and they are still the cream of the crop in the AFC East as long as Josh Allen is at the peak of his powers.

Buffalo’s pass defense struggled last season, but additions of Joey Bosa and Landon Jackson should help out in that front. As long as they avoid disaster, the Bills still run the AFC East for at least a couple more years.

2. New England Patriots (7-10)

The New England Patriots should see some vast improvements under Mike Vrabel this season. The defense will be much better, and Drake Maye is a very talented player who should rise in his second NFL season.

They should also continue to see development from young defenders like Christian Gonzalez, Keion White, and Milton Williams. Don’t be surprised if TreVeyon Henderson becomes an Offensive Rookie of the Year candidate from the running back position, either. New England is probably still a year away from truly being a playoff contender, but all signs are pointing up.

3. Miami Dolphins (5-12)

I just don’t have a good feeling about the Miami Dolphins this year. The past injuries to Tua Tagovailoa and Tyreek Hill still loom large over this franchise, and the AFC East around them objectively is in an upward swing while the majority of this roster continues to get older.

That’s not to say this team doesn’t have great pieces around. Chop Robinson is going to be a stud off the edge, and De’Von Achane has already shown that he is one of the most explosive running backs in the NFL. If everyone stays healthy, this could be a different story, but I just don’t feel comfortable banking on that.

4. New York Jets (5-12)

We’ve seen this story before with the Jets. They are attempting yet another reclamation project at the quarterback position, and this time, it meant bringing in Justin Fields to take over the starting role. Their defense is still a very good unit, and Aaron Glenn should be a very positive addition to the coaching staff in the long run.

However, this rebuild is going to take time. It’s hard to trust Fields as the starting quarterback of this team, and this is still a very young roster. They finish in the cellar of the AFC East one more time.
