Browns Defender Tosses Out Some Carson Wentz Trash Talk Ahead of Matchup with Vikings

The Minnesota Vikings have dealt with a number of injuries on their roster this year, including starting QB J.J. McCarthy going down with a high ankle sprain.
As a result, the past two games have seen Carson Wentz under center for Minnesota with the Vikings going 1-1, equaling the result of McCarthy’s two starts.
Now, the Vikings are headed to London to take on the Cleveland Browns, but before this matchup kicks off early Sunday morning, one Browns defender had some trash talk to throw in the direction of Minnesota’s quarterback.
Browns Defender Throws Shade in Carson Wentz’s Direction

Browns safety Grant Delpit spoke with the media on Thursday ahead of the game and had this to say of Wentz:
โHe actually has a history of turning the ball over a lot. So thatโs something that weโve got to exploit, you know, make him uncomfortable and go get that thing.โ
For those who don’t know who Delpit is, he has been with the Browns since they drafted him in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft out of LSU. He was teammates with Justin Jefferson on that 2019 LSU team that steamrolled its way to a national championship, earning All-American status along the way.
Delpit has been a consistent starter in Cleveland’s defense, starting 56 games so far in his career. Among 65 safeties with at least 150 defensive snaps under their belts this season, Delpit’s PFF grade of 74.9 ranks 13th in the NFL.

As far as Delpit’s claims of Wentz being a turnover machine, he isn’t entirely wrong. The Vikings QB has started 96 games in his career, and he has at least two turnovers in 26 of them. He has 34 games without a turnover, so he is nearly just as likely to have multiple turnovers as he is to have none.
However, Cleveland’s defense has been one of the worst at forcing turnovers this season. They have forced just two takeaways so far in 2025, with only the Washington Commanders having fewer takeaways (1).
Meanwhile, the Browns are tied for the most turnovers in the NFL with eight, giving them a -6 turnover differential this year, the second-worst in the league ahead of only the New York Jets.
The Vikings, admittedly, haven’t been much better at holding onto the ball this year with seven turnovers of their own. However, they have evened that out with seven takeaways, making them one of 18 teams to stay out of the red in terms of turnover differential this year.

Ultimately, turnovers will be the name of the game for both sides on Sunday, especially as the Browns start rookie QB Dillon Gabriel for the first time.
If the Vikings can hold onto the ball while making the rookie uncomfortable in a difficult situation, making his first start in an overseas game, they should be able to come away with a win.
