In about a week and a half, the 2025 NFL Draft will kick off from Green Bay, Wisconsin, and teams will inject youth into their pipelines for the long haul.

5 Bold Predictions for the NFL Draft

Miami quarterback Cam Ward is expected to go first overall to the Tennessee Titans, followed by some combination of Travis Hunter (CB | WR, Colorado) and Abdul Carter (EDGE, Penn State).

But that’s the obvious stuff. Let’s get funky.

These are five bold predictions for the draft, designed to be freaky or quite specific.

1. 3 QBs and 3 RBs Chosen in Round 1

This year’s quarterback class is not as sterling as last year’s, but teams still need plans for the future at that position. Conversely, the 2025 running back class is significantly better than 2024, so there’s a bit of a power balance.

In Round 1, three quarterbacks will fly off the board: Cam Ward, Shedeur Sanders, and Jaxson Dart. And three running backs will intermingle: Ashton Jeanty, Omarion Hampton, and TreyVeyon Henderson.

2. RB Omarion Hampton Flies off the Board in Top 12

Rookie running backs can thank Saquon Barkley. The Philadelphia Eagles won the chip last season with Barkley leading the way, so the age of running back importance might be back in the NFL.

Accordingly, men like Ashton Jeanty and Omarion Hampton will prosper — even the aforementioned Henderson.

The Chicago Bears will entertain Hampton at pick No. 10 after Ashton Jeanty joins the Las Vegas Raiders, and Hampton won’t get past the Dallas Cowboys at pick No. 12.

Running backs are vital again.

3. The Patriots Trade Down

New England still has oodles of roster holes — a single left tackle like Will Campbell won’t solve everything. Perhaps, like they should’ve done last year, the Patriots will trade down from their No. 4 spot and enjoy a mini-king’s ransom of draft capital to spend on other depth chart spots.

The Patriots need an offensive tackle, a running back, a wide receiver, and some pass rushers. They trade back. If done correctly, New England can get a haul for their pick and check off several long-term roster needs.

4. iOL Grey Zabel Is a Top 15 or 20 Pick

Paul Allen said on VikesNow this week that Zabel could be drafted much sooner than most believe. And we believe it.

Zabel offers odd-but-fantastic position flexibility and can start on Day One. If he goes in the Top 15, the Indianapolis Colts will surprise everyone with the Zabel pick. If not the Colts, the Seattle Seahawks at No. 18.

5. QB Jalen Milroe to Jets at No. 42

New York signed Justin Fields for QB1 duty, and the college version of Fields right now … is Jalen Milroe of Alabama.

The recent smoke about Milroe climbing into Round 1 won’t come true, but the Jets will scoop Milroe in Round 2. New York will then hope a bonafide starter will emerge between Fields and Milroes — who will stylistically do the Spider-man Meme to each other.
