It wasn’t pretty, but the Minnesota Vikings got the job done with a 23-17 win over the New York Jets, where the team leaned heavily on the defense.

Vikings Player Reactions to Win Over Jets

Minnesota extended its unbeaten run in both the season and UK games and moved to 5-0 on the season. Vikings player reactions were plentiful post-game, with all eyes on the early London game.

Vikings Player Reactions – Pre Game

The moment Harrison Smith and Harrison Phillips showed up to the game in Peaky Blinders attire. I knew it was going to be a good day. In an impressive defensive team display, both Smith and Phillips came up with an important sack of Jets QB Aaron Rodgers.

Byron Murphy Jr. did his pre-game warm-ups in a specially-made Tottenham Hotspur jersey. The Vikings DB appreciated the gesture by the host soccer team.

Vikings Players Reactions

NFL UK & Ireland made a nice video of several on-field reactions to the win from Vikings players, including Justin Jefferson, Jonathan Greenard, Blake Cashman, and more.

There was also a longer message from Harrison Phillips directed to UK Vikings fans.

JJ McCarthy won’t be on the field this season, but the Vikings’ first-round rookie quarterback is making a habit of posting one excellent in-game post on social media every game.

Another injured Viking, CB Mekhi Blackmon, gave a nod to the veteran who came in to replace him. Stephon Gillmore made the game-winning interception.

The Vikings’ offense struggled to score points in London, but one man didn’t: Vikings rookie kicker Will Reichard. Justin Jefferson was glowing in his praise of his teammate known as Will the Thrill.

NFL UK and Ireland were at it again in the Vikings locker room, getting the post-game thoughts of Harrison Smith, Brian Asamoah, Aaron Jones, and Stephon Gillmore.

Reaction From Kevin O’Connell

Unsurprisingly, Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell praised his defense in his post-game locker room speech. Game balls were awarded to every defensive player and coach, and the unit got its due for driving the team to victory this week.

Minnesota Vikings Defensive Coordinator Brian Flores addressed the media from the TCO Performance Center on July 25th, 2024. Flores was hired in February 2023 to take over for Ed Donatell after Minnesota finished 30th in points allowed.

Speaking post-game, he expressed his love for “doing football” with Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores. What offensive coach wouldn’t love having this Vikings defense backing them up?

Former Players Reactions

Finally, it’s always good to see former Vikings players enjoying what their team is doing. This week, we have Cris Carter and Jake Reed enjoying the Vikings’ win from the stands in London.

Former Vikings RB Robert Smith praised Andrew Van Ginkel, whose pick 6 was arguably the most important play of the game.

Finally, we have Hall of Fame DT John Randle basking in the glory of the Vikings’ 5-0 start.

The Vikings are now entering the bye week before a huge divisional game in Week 7 at home against the Detroit Lions.
