The National Football League will release the full schedule on Wednesday, May 15, at 7:00 p.m. central time, but the Minnesota Vikings have already gotten a glimpse of theirs and should be given another idea on Tuesday night.

Vikings Home Preseason Contest Comes against Familiar Foe

With the Tampa Bay Buccaneers accidentally leaking their preseason schedule on Monday, they revealed that the Minnesota Vikings will be an away opponent. That is notable for Minnesota as they have just a single home preseason game, given that the regular season schedule includes an extra home game.

Last year, the Vikings played host to the Buccaneers during Week 1 of the NFL season. With Baker Mayfield under center, it seemed like a contest that Minnesota should have come away with, but a lackluster performance left them coming up short. Mayfield is back with the Buccaneers this season, and he was also rewarded with a shiny new contract. Tampa Bay never let him hit free agency, and he represents the first stability for the franchise at quarterback since Tom Brady’s retirement.

With the announcement of the Buccaneers contest, two of the Vikings’ three preseason opponents are known. In February, it was announced that Minnesota would head to Cleveland for joint practices, which meant the Browns would be one of the two away opponents.

It remains to be seen who Minnesota will face in their third preseason game, but the wait won’t be long. On Tuesday, it should be expected that their London matchup will be unveiled, as it has often been made public before the large schedule dump. Headed to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this season, the Vikings will have one of their home games overseas. That matchup intrigues Minnesota fans who have yet to see the purple lose in London.

When the Vikings host Kirk Cousins and the Atlanta Falcons remains to be seen, but you can bet that one will be highlighted on the calendar.
