Vikings HC Has Injury Update on 3 Stars
Waltzing out of a Week 2 win over the San Francisco 49ers, Minnesota Vikings fans quickly turned attention to injury statuses of three key players: Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, and Dallas Turner.
Vikings HC Has Injury Update on 3 Stars
Minnesota defeated San Francisco 23-17, the 49ers’ eighth straight loss in the state of Minnesota. They haven’t won at the Metrodome or U.S. Bank Stadium since the weekend A Few Good Men premiered in movie theaters.
Thankfully for Vikings fans’ sake, head coach Kevin O’Connell wasn’t shy about updating his players’ injury situations on Monday. On Jefferson, O’Connell noted, “Justin did come in today feeling pretty good, which was a positive based upon the initial quad contusion that happened on that run play.”
“We’ll be day-to-day with Justin and we’ll keep you guys posted throughout the week on his workload and what it looks like for Sunday, but pretty positive in the early returns there,” O’Connell added.
Jefferson Verdict: Day-to-day.
On Addison, the prognosis was similar. “He’s consistently been pushing through that process. Didn’t quite get to a place last week where he could try to go out and even work (in practice) from a limited perspective,” O’Connell said. “We’ll see if we can maybe get him involved in the week as we push forward, but very much questionable. Hoping to have him, but also want to make sure we’re smart with him, knowing it’s a long season.”
The Vikings will need Addison before too long, as some onlookers don’t believe rolling with Jalen Nailor, Brandon Powell, Trent Sherfield, and Trishton Jackson is sustainable.
Addison Verdict: Day-to-day.
For Turner, O’Connell completed the day-to-day trifecta, explaining he “came in today feeling pretty good,” and the Vikings had a “positive on early returns there.”
Turner logged a sack in Week 1 at the New York Giants but encountered a quieter game against San Francisco. His peers, like Patrick Jones II, feasted instead.
Turner Verdict: Day-to-day.
The Vikings host the Houston Texans this Sunday, another undefeated club that knocked off the Chicago Bears on Sunday Night Football. Houston is predicted to prevail by a point or two, and Minnesota will carry underdog status into back-to-back home games, which is rather rare for the purple team.
Players like Danielle Hunter, Stefon Diggs, and Kris Boyd will get a crack at their former team, too. Hunter joined the Texans during free agency six months ago. So did Boyd. Diggs found his way to Houston via trade with the Buffalo Bills this offseason.
The Texans have never beaten the Vikings, unsuccessful in five tries.
