Sporting News’ Bill Bender picked the Vikings to defeat Seattle, 31-19, and explained: “Geno Smith (knee) left the Week 15 loss to the Packers, and if he cannot go, then Sam Howell will face the Vikings, one of eight NFL teams with 40-plus sacks. Minnesota is 3-1 ATS when favored by four points or more, and Sam Darnold continues to be the hot hand.”
The Vikings are favored to prevail by three points against the Seahawks. Minnesota has the league’s second-best defense per DVOA through 15 weeks.
Minnesota has lost five straight games in Seattle, a naughty streak dating back to 2006. Russell Wilson dominated the Vikings in Seattle, and this is Minnesota’s first chance at the Seahawks on the road in the post-Wilson era.
Kevin O’Connell’s team has a 14% chance of snatching the NFC’s No. 1 seed and homefield advantage throughout the postseason.
