Tom Brady has been removed from the NFL as a player for two seasons, but that doesn’t stop him from delivering hot takes.

And it just so happens that his latest works out pretty advantageously for the Minnesota Vikings.

In short, Brady insinuated this week that wide receiver Justin Jefferson is the sport’s top wideout amid everpresent “Ja’Marr Chase or Justin Jefferson” debates. For Brady, considered by many the greatest football player of all time, it’s Jefferson.

Brady was asked on Fox Sports airwaves who he’d toss the rock to if he could throw to anyone in the NFL. He replied, “Great question. A couple tough choices out there. I know Ja’Marr Chase — what a year he’s having, but I’m saying Justin Jefferson. He can do everything from any spot on the field. He goes deep. He goes short. Catch the ball, catch and run, touchdowns, third down. He’s a ridiculous player.”

The GOAT now calls NFL games as a commentator for FOX and is a partial owner of the Las Vegas Raiders. He could not stay away from football, a business where he won seven Super Bowl rings.

“Jefferson reminds me so much of my former teammate and Viking Randy Moss. So if it comes down to choosing only one, he would be the one right now,” Brady added about Jefferson.

Chase has swiftly closed the gap in the best wide receiver debate, authoring a stellar year on a losing Cincinnati Bengals team. In fact, at this time last year, folks debated Jefferson’s claim to the league’s top WR spot against Tyreek Hill of the Miami Dolphins. Hill’s production dwindled this season, and Chase basically replaced him in the current WR conversation.

Jefferson is on pace for 1,530 receiving yards and 9 touchdowns this season. He also exploded last Sunday in a win over the Atlanta Falcons, grabbing 7 receptions for 133 yards and a couple of touchdowns. His teammate, Jordan Addison, also feasted, banking 8 catches for 133 yards and 3 scores in a win over the Atlanta Falcons, a team quarterbacked by Jefferson’s and Addison’s former teammate, Kirk Cousins.

The 25-year-old said after the Week 14 dub, “We always say that we’re the best duo in the league, and today we had the opportunity to show the world that we’re the best duo. You know, him getting, what, eight [catches] and me getting seven? That’s the type of targets that we want, you know, but we understand that we’re not going to be able to get that every single game.”

“So just being able to put that on film today and being able to have a dominant performance with two receivers on the same team, the sky’s the limit, for sure.”

It’s also worth noting that Brady is a fan of Vikings rookie quarterback J.J. McCarthy. The two attended the same college, the University of Michigan. Brady will have more Vikings-themed takes in the future regarding McCarthy, rest assured.
