The P/PTSD Perspective: July 27th, 2024

1) Vikings Re-Sign Fan Favorite After His 1-Year Absence: The critical factor to remember with Duke Shelley is that he thrived while working with Ed Donatell. The Brian Flores defense looks much different. Can the super competitive corner thrive in the different system? I won’t be among those betting against him.

2) There’s a Strange Cam Akers Development: For some, re-signing the running back was a foregone conclusion. Instead, Akers travelled south, taking his talents down to Houston to join forces with the bevy of other former Vikings. Minnesota could still use some more help at running back. Dalvin Cook?

3) Emerging Vikings Defender Tabbed Breakout Candidate: In some ways, last season was the breakout for Camryn Bynum. Does he still have further to go in his development? Entering Year 4, there’s reason to think so, especially since he was a college corner who flipped over to safety.

4) Vikings Host Veteran Running Back for a Workout: After the Akers situation didn’t work out, the Vikings are doing their due diligence. One wonders if they’ll add someone or if they’ll roll with the five they have. Another possibility is to try to scoop up someone during roster trim downs.

5) A Different Ex-Vikings Playmaker Could Fill the Cam Akers Role: Much of the appeal for Jerick McKinnon is that he’s a veteran who is coming off of a pair of Super Bowl wins. Great experience and leadership. Plus, he’s great at catching the ball out of the backfield, so he could be a 3rd down weapon.
