The P/PTSD Perspective: DPOY in MIN, Viking to be Traded, and Under-the-Radar Star

Joseph Maiorana-USA TODAY Sports.

PurplePTSD works in partnership with Vikings Territory, similarly doing their utmost to offer top-notch coverage of the Minnesota Vikings. As a result, we’re promoting five of their top articles of the past week in “The P/PTSD Perspective.” Take a peek at some of their best stuff.

The P/PTSD Perspective: August 17th, 2024

1) Former Defensive Player of the Year is on His Way to Minnesota: Technically true, the issue is that he also left. Stephon Gilmore isn’t the player he used to be but would still be Minnesota’s CB2 or CB3. Any chance Minnesota ups their offer by a bit more to get the deal across the finish line?

2) One Viking Appears More Likely Than Ever to be Traded Away: Prior to the J.J. McCarthy news, the opinion was reasonable enough. Jaren Hall was coming off a poor effort in the Raiders game and it’s evident that Nick Mullens isn’t going anywhere. Missing the rookie for all of 2024 changes things, though.

3) The Vikings Have an Under-the-Radar Star in Training Camp: Good to see the big boys get some love from time to time. Blake Brandel has been a great pro since entering the NFL, overcoming no shortage of adversity as a late-round selection who climbed up from the practice squad, to a backup on the roster, to now being a frontrunner to start.

4) The Vikings’ Surprise Success Has Been Hiding in Plain Sight: Trishton Jackson has been around for a little while. In fact, he put up a critical 2-point conversion last year in the Atlanta game, but he has mostly been a practice squad player. Good chance he cracks the 53-man roster as the WR4/5.

5) Vikings Sign 1 Linebacker and Waiver Another Linebacker: Part of the normal — but still unfortunate — roster turnover that takes place at this time of the year. Jabril Cox suffered an injury in the opening preseason game, so Minnesota has moved on while welcoming a replacement: Jordan Kunaszyk.
