The P/PTSD Perspective: February 24th, 2024

1) Former Viking & Current Analyst Speculates about a New Home for Harrison Smith: There aren’t too many people out there who can make a better educated guess than Ben Leber. He used to play linebacker for the Vikings and now covers the team. His thoughts on where Harrison Smith could end up playing make sense.

2) By Necessity, the Vikings’ First Defensive Domino Will Fall on Monday: As soon as one thinks the GM is pinned down, Kwesi Adofo-Mensah does something unexpected. The void date for Marcus Davenport’s contract was scheduled to arrive on Monday, meaning the dead money in the edge rusher’s contract was going to become immovable. Adofo-Mensah, though, decided to pull the rug out from underneath our feet.

3) The Vikings Should Try to Steal These Players from their Division Rivals in 2024: Minnesota is no stranger to taking talent away from division rivals. Most prominently, that has occurred with Packers players: Za’Darius Smith, Chandon Sullivan, and Dean Lowry. The upcoming free agency period will provide a fresh chance for the Vikings to enrich themselves at the cost of a direct rival.

4) If the Vikings Want a Bridge QB, The Ultimate Bridge QB is Now Available: Truth be told, signing a bridge QB doesn’t make a ton of sense. Bringing Kirk Cousins back and then drafting a QB high in the draft makes sense. So, too, does it make sense to give Nick Mullens a shot to be that short-term solution. Sinking a pile of money into an underwhelming vet, though, would be an ill-advised approach.

5) The Josh Dobbs Trade Got a Little Sweeter for the Vikings: The cost was always modest to bring the veteran journeyman to the Twin Cities. Learning a bit more about the conditions of the trade, though, further solidifies the notion that the Vikings got a bargain.
