The P/PTSD Perspective: Brian Flores’ RB, Vikings’ Sneaky Signing, and the PB LB Tryout
PurplePTSD works in partnership with Vikings Territory, similarly doing their utmost to offer top-notch coverage of the Minnesota Vikings. As a result, we’re promoting five of their top articles of the past week in “The P/PTSD Perspective.” Take a peek at some of their best stuff.
The P/PTSD Perspective: September 21st, 2024
1) Brian Flores Claims a Running Back for the Vikings’ Defense: Every defensive coordinator wants to have a strong running game. When Aaron Jones is picking up first downs with his legs, the clock is running and the other team isn’t scoring. So, Flores’ words about Jones make a lot of sense.
2) The Vikings’ Sneaky Signing Has Been Shining Across Two Weeks: For a while, Jihad Ward was being considered among the potential cut candidates. What became obvious in August, though, is that Mr. Flores had a plan for the versatile veteran. He has a brain and some brawn, allowing him to shift around the line, thereby making the pass rush more potent.
3) Vikings Bring Pro Bowl Linebacker in for a Tryout: Giving Kwon Alexander a look makes some sense. For a time, he was one of the NFL’s better defenders. Minnesota is currently rolling with Blake Cashman and Ivan Pace Jr. as the main pair, both of whom have played well (especially Cashman). Down the road, an injury could arise that would necessitate some added depth at LB.
4) Vikings Defender Has Been an Unexpected Difference Maker: Patrick Jones II was a cut candidate coming into the season. Or, at least, that was the theory among many (including for yours truly). Across a pair of games, the man has 4 sacks. Ultra impressive.
5) The Specific Problem Where the Vikings Need to Hurry for a Solution: Alright, the title is clunky, but there’s still some insight contained inside. Generally speaking, running the ball well is what leads to winning the time of possession battle. The Vikings have yet to get that sorted out but they would be wise to make it a priority.
Enjoy the extra reading, Vikings fans.
