Eagles vs. Vikings History

Of course, preseason games don’t count towards any actual records, but in total, the Minnesota Vikings and Philadelphia Eagles have met 31 times throughout the histories of the two franchises during regular season and playoffs.

Overall, the Eagles lead the all-time series with a record of 16-15 against the Vikings. The two teams have met during the regular season in back-to-back years in the 2022 and 2023 campaigns, and Philly took both wins. This preseason matchup is the only game on the schedule between the two teams in 2024 though unless they meet in the playoffs.

Vikings Spotlight Player: S Lewis Cine

Many Vikings fans were very pleased to see Lewis Cine make an impact in Minnesota’s second preseason game against the Cleveland Browns last weekend.

The safety finished the weekend with 11 tackles, a sack, two QB hits, and a pass defended. It will be very interesting to see what the Vikings’ thought process is with the former first-round pick if he can put together another strong showing this weekend.

Could it convince them to keep Cine around for another year? Will another team take a chance by trading for him? Only time will tell, but this could prove to be a very important weekend for Cine’s NFL career.

Eagles Spotlight Player: RB Will Shipley

Eric Canha-USA TODAY Sports

Obviously, the Philadelphia Eagles made a massive splash this offseason by bringing in Saquon Barkley, but they also added former Clemson Tiger Will Shipley in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

The 21-year-old running back has been a star for the Eagles this summer, proving that his versatile skillset as a rusher and receiver can translate to the NFL level. He has totaled 12 carries for 38 rushing yards along with five receptions for 38 receiving yards and a touchdown through two preseason games.

Assuming Shipley gets a sizeable workload again, the Vikings defense will need to figure out a plan to limit the rookie’s production.
