At long last, the day is here: the opening round of Minnesota Madness is now upon us. For a refresher on the full rules, take a look at an earlier article on Vikings Territory.

A quick refresher. We’re taking our cue from March Madness, the college hoops tournament that inspires no shortage of sports fans to fill out a bracket. Our version is a bit different. Minnesota Madness is asking readers to vote on which play is the best one from the Vikings’ season. We’ve trimmed things down to 16 games to make the numbers work and we’ve got 8 matchups included below for Round 1.

Scroll down and watch the clips. In between each matchup is a poll. After considering the plays, go ahead and cast your ballot. Democracy will reign supreme in Minnesota Madness. We’ll tally up the votes from the identical pieces on PurplePTSD and Vikings Territory and the 8 best plays get kicked into Round 2, which begins at the same time next Friday.

Voting for Round 1 will end on Tuesday, February 20th at noon.

When we’re done the full tournament, there will be a single play left standing. Our websites will then be making a donation to The Vikings Foundation in the amount of $1,600 to match the original amount of plays. So, let your voice be heard. The more votes, the better.
