Brett Favre Weighs In on Vikings
Entering Lambeau Field on Sunday, Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love wore a Packers No. 4 jersey, paying homage to Brett Favre, who revealed a diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease last week.

Love’s team later lost to the Minnesota Vikings after mounting a comeback from a 28-0 deficit, falling short 31-29.
And after the game, Favre took notice of both teams’ quarterbacks, two of the clubs that employed him from 1992 to 2010. Favre first tweeted directly at Love, “Dear Jordan: Just a reminder that one game, one play, or one pass doesn’t define you. Way to show resilience today. You have a long career ahead. Just keep going forward.”
He also retweeted the video of Love wearing his jersey and opined, “Big respect to Jordan Love for wearing this old man’s jersey. I didn’t think I could like Jordan anymore until this morning.”
Thereafter, it almost seemed like he forgot that he played for the purple team, too, in 2009 and 2010, making sure to follow up the pro-Love tweets with a shoutout to Sam Darnold, the Vikings’ current QB1.
“Let me not forget someone who was all but forgotten, Sam Darnold, who has found a home w/the Vikings and is playing great!” Favre posted to X after the Vikings’ fourth win of 2024.
Darnold has totally revived his career through four games in Minnesota, leading the NFL in touchdown passes (11) and ranking third leaguewide per EPA+CPOE, an efficiency metric measuring expected wins added. He’s played masterfully, keeping the Vikings in front of the scoreboard for all but three minutes of the 2024 season.
Last week, Fox Sports’ Colin Cowherd actually compared Darnold to Favre, an odd twist before the Favre tweet. Cowherd said on his show after Minnesota defeated the San Francisco 49ers: “He’s an athlete, he improvs, he ad libs, more dramatic upscale touchdowns, but more ugly games. By the way, he’s not obviously Brett Favre, but Brett Favre when he was in Minnesota was sort of like that. Brett Favre was a chef … There’s no question this offense has more juice. Kirk Cousins was steadier,”
The Vikings now have the league’s eighth-best Super Bowl odds, as well:
- Kansas City Chiefs: +500
- San Francisco 49ers: +650
- Baltimore Ravens: +800
- Buffalo Bills: +1000
- Houston Texans: +1300
- Detroit Lions: +1300
- Philadelphia Eagles: +1400
- Minnesota Vikings: +1700
- Dallas Cowboys: +2100
- New York Jets: +2100
- Atlanta Falcons: +2700
- Green Bay Packers: +2700
Minnesota’s season must be going well if the Super Bowl odds are Top 8 and Favre is patting the quarterback on the back.
