Ali Siddiqui’s GB-MIN Prediction + Flashback
The Minnesota Vikings (3-0) and the Green Bay Packers (2-1) will continue their rivalry this Sunday at Lambeau Field. Minnesota’s start has been surprising. Their past two wins were expected to be among the toughest games on the schedule.
Ali Siddiqui’s GB-MIN Prediction + Flashback
Last week’s 34-7 win against the Houston Texans was impressive, to say the least. Green Bay won 30-14 on the road against the Tennessee Titans and is 2-0 without Jordan Love (knee), which is also a surprise.
Minnesota trails the all-time series 58-66-3.
Sam Darnold’s play has been surprising, and the defense was expected to be good, but not this good, especially this early, given all the new faces they added. Players have caught on quickly and are producing. Defensive coordinator Brian Flores deserves huge credit. Of course, Kwesi Adofo-Mensah deserves credit, too, for bringing them on board.
The last time Minnesota played at Lambeau Field was in week eight of last season. Kirk Cousins went 23/31 for 274 yards and two touchdowns. Jordan Addison caught seven passes for 82 yards and a touchdown. K.J. Osborn caught eight passes for 99 yards.
On defense, Josh Metellus tied for a team-high with eight tackles. He also recorded an interception. D.J. Wonnum recorded two sacks. Minnesota won 24-10, improving to 4-4 on the season. They finished 7-10. Green Bay fell to 2-5 with the loss and finished 9-8. Cousins, however, went down in the game with a torn Achilles. It made the win feel more like a loss. It ended up being his final game with Minnesota.
“There’s nothing really I can say about it,” tight end T.J. Hockenson said. “I just love Kirk to death. I love his family. I love him. I love everything about him. And to see a guy like that go down is always tough.”
For Green Bay, Love went 24/41 for 229 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. He also rushed for 34 yards on four carries. Jayden Reed caught four receptions for 83 yards. De’Vondre Campbell recorded a game-high 14 tackles.
Love is expected back, but will he look like his usual self? It’s very hard to say. He will not be at 100%, and this Minnesota defense is looking great.
Divisional games are always exciting and usually pretty unpredictable. This game will be especially special for Aaron Jones since he spent the last seven seasons in Green Bay. Just another former Packer who jumped to Minnesota. Could he be in for a huge game?
Playing at Lambeau Field is tough, but Minnesota has a great chance to win this game. Starting 4-0 would be huge for this club, especially since many did not expect them to even make the playoffs this season. This division is also very tough. Every divisional game is very critical if they stay in the right direction.
Prediction: Vikings win 27-17
